VAGCOM: disable "Turn off ignition before leaving car"

I have a 2013 S5 with advanced key and would love to disable the "Turn off ignition before leaving car" message in the cluster and warning chime that I get when opening the driver's door with the car running. I know pressing the button under the wiper stalks shuts it up, but I would rather not have it beep at me at all. Very annoying. I can understand forgetting the headlights on when leaving.

I've been through the gamut in VAGCOM trying to find this setting (also all of the economy tips...why is my car yelling at me all of the time?) but haven't found it yet in coding or adaptation. So it's either in undocumented bits, or non-existent. Normally I would poke around in the undocumented bits, but the last time I did that I blew a module and had to have it replaced (this was in my A3 when I was trying to get the E-code tailights to work correctly - turned the interior into a dance club with all of the flashing lights).

Sorry for the delay, here's the coding that I did to turn off the buzzer when the driver's door is opened and the car is running...

a. [09 – Cent. Elect.]
b. [Coding - 07]
c. [Long Coding Helper] → Byte 05 Bit 3 - Change value from 1 to 0
d. Note: Default – 00111100 (3C), New – 00110100 (34)

Hey Drew, I just checked my module and it ends with a "P" instead of the "DJ". I would think that the bytes would be the same and coding as well. I did confirm the coding though and it is "00110100" for mine at least. I guess this is just another reason why I can't get rid of my car just yet..... Maybe DavidB8 can help you. Have you been to his website?

I don't have much time before I deploy for 6 months to work on this, but I'll give a few more tries...I think VCDS needs an update anyway, so they might have a bit more documentation now.

Is DavidB8's website the Audi Enthusiasts blog? If so, I've been through his page, but I haven't contacted him.

For now, in case you guys don't know, pressing "reset" button on the bottom of the windshield washer stalk will temporarily silence the sound. It's only a temp fix, though. And that blows.

Yes you have to push it every time. Ive gotten in the habit of pushing it with my right hand as my left hand it opening the door just so I dont have to hear that sound. It still manages to get 1 beep in though.

BTW, I used to have a 2013 S5 Premium+, which did not have the same issue. Just I'm curious why the difference?

What happened to it? It would have been nice to get VCDS out and read the entire coding of the vehicle...might have been able to find the bit/bits that fix the stupid chime permanently.

Assuming the car comes back still NOT chiming at you, you can find someone with VAG-COM and they can run a full scan on your car and save the output to a txt file. I can compare it to mine and others...and hopefully find the "different" bits that can be used to disable the chime. Then we can send the results to Ross-Tech so they can document the 2013 series controller better. Of course, all I can do is compare codings. I won't be able to poke around in my car's controllers until June.

I would assume my previous 2013 S5 was like a early release version? since it came with the f**king plastic stuff for the dead pedal rather than mental stuff which matched for the other two pedals

I have the same stupid beeping sound in my vehicle and know many other 2013 S4 owners that have the same issue. I went through every control module looking for a solution but didn't find anything to turn it off. I've also gotten in the habit of pressing the reset button on the wiper stalk. I don't even notice myself doing it anymore.

The only thing I figured out is that by pressing the button on the bottom side of the wiper controls shuts the chime off.

There's another thread about this (I'm too lazy to find it). You can shut it off, but it involves changing the country code of the car to DE or UK. If you change the country code, you'll have to change a bunch of other stuff to go back to US defaults (ie, everything will be in 24h time/metric). Changing to UK is a little more tricky, as there are subtle RHD things that will need to be taken into account. It's enough of a PITA that I didn't bother with it. However, I didn't know about the 'mute' trick. I'll train myself to do that.

I recently got a 2016 Q5 and this beeping is also a bane of my new existence. The cancel trick is very helpful and I'll be employing it. I don't regularly get out after starting the car, but it happens enough to be annoying.

I do wonder, has anyone sourced the sensor for this? Is it tied to the same door sensor that would tell you the door wasn't closed all the way while driving? Just wondering what the consequence would be to disabling the sensor itself.

The next option is the speaker, but I haven't investigated enough to know if this is using the cars main sound system or another speaker. If it is another speaker, for what else is that speaker used. Just trying to think of other creative ways around this.
