I feel like a broken record, but it sucks donkey balls that we don't get this car. I totally understand the business decision behind it - we (north americans) don't like wagons, but as an enthusiast, this picture makes me cry a little.

Crash test it, and make it a 'sold only' car - tack on the same kind of premium Audi is putting on the Allroad (it's quite a bit more expensive than the outgoing avant). I'll be first in line.

Ha! Love the "You Just Got Beat By A Wagon" sticker under the spoiler on the rear glass. I hope they all come like that from the factory! That is one sexy car though, I gotta say. I like the headlights and grile way better than the ones on the S4/A4. Bumpers are beautiful, and THOSE WHEELS!

So they're putting this car out as a 'feeler' to see if it's worthwhile bringing it here? That's somewhat promising given the TTRS is here, and it had a similar pre-north amercian introduction life.

That said, I have a suggestion for Audi NA - post on their Facebook page that if they get X deposits of $1500, they will bring it to NA. Little risk to them, and lots of upside to us.

To those that complain about the lack of 4.0TT - I completely agree, that engine would send me over the moon. But the 4.2 isn't a bad engine, and if I have to choose between no RS4 avant and RS4 avant with 4.2, I think you know which way I'm leaning...

It actually doesn't do anything for me. The lines of the fenders don't look right. They don't flow as well as the ones of the B7 or B5 did with the rest of the car. If it was available this side of the pond and money wasn't a question I still wouldn't buy one. Maybe I'd be more impressed if I was to see it on the road.

Not true. That was the non-FSI engines that were having timing chain-type issues. The B6 (and potentially B7) S4's. The RS4 and S5 with the FSI 4.2 issues are related to carbon build-up. Of course all other FSI engines are having those issues as well. Chalk it up to "efficiency."

Just give me a damn timing belt. Didn't they RE-design the 4.2 in the name of 'space' to fit it in the Allroad and B6? How much space did they save...? TWO inches? They could've moved the firewall and tuned up the old 4.2 !

Ever since seeing the new RS cars, I kind of had the same feelings. I know the square fenders are a throw-back to the old Ur-Quattro, but honestly I prefer the rounded arches from the B5 & B7. The square fender of the Ur is cool, but it should be left in the past IMO.

Now, does all of this make it not a sexy looking car - not at all

needs proper wide sideskirts connecting the widened F/R wheel arches like the B5 and B7. That makes it feel more widebody and look more aggressive.

My semi-fear is that Audi reads and, gasp, listens to the complaints saying "well, they don't like it, so we were justified in not bringing it."

That's the last thing I want. I want more S-cars (S4 and S6 Avant) the C7 allroad, TDI's, and of course the RS4 and RS6 Avants. I'm going to take anything they'll give me, but I want to be appreciative.

Doesn't fit, the fenders are wider. But i'm looking into that. I want to place the RS4 diffusor on my Avant.

Bah! That's kind of my point, though, in wanting them to just give us more offerings. Special orders even. Just allow us to purchase what we want.

It's the actual replacing of the timing chain and having to pull the motor for that job is ridiculous. It's a total PITA.

Yes and no. The timing chain itself is not the issue, it's the guides that are plastic and break - causing the issues. There is also no specific timing maintenance recommendations. Many are well beyond 100k miles without any sign or need to do the timing service. Some are taking precautions and just doing it when major maintenance is taking place and/or when they're installing headers and such.

You are correct, though, that pulling the motor is just plain ridiculous. It was a major flaw in design for the B6/B7 S4's. It's not a problem, though, for the RS4, S5, and other FSI V8's.

Love the box fender flares. Just like on my 944. Bring it over with a real manual transmission and I'd buy one. Wish it came with the turbo motor or at least the supercharged motor vs the 4.2...

Doesn't exist with a manual transmission. They're not going to create one for the wishy washy US market assuming they do bring it over.
