Lightbulb Which wheels should i get? Miro 111 VS Avant Garde M310

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So im looking for a set of wheels that are going to be my summer/spring/fall set.

I like both wheels by far over any other ones ive really seen, they to me go great with the b5's especially dropped.

Im thinking of going 18x8, as of right now i have the stock sport suspension, but i will be getting coilovers in the future.

The ones im leaning torward right now, are the m310's. Reason is i have read they are made stronger, and i dont want to deal with wheels that bend/crack easily if you accidently run over something, 2 is i like both styles A LOT but the avants seem to have a more "pop out" look to me. I;d be getting the Matte black insides, with machined face

I also can get the avants cheaper then the miros which is another perck, but maybe im missing something, and you guys can provide me info why a diff width, or other wheel choice would be better, but either of these is what i really want.

    Avant Garde's

    Miro 111s

And for reference my b5 is light silver, but another thing i have also seen is i can find alot of pictures of b5s with miros, but not so much with the m310s, which leads me to those more cause i like having the different style out of the pack.

Miro is gravity cast and garbage. Avant Garde is low pressure cast, meaning they are lighter and stronger. Miros crack easily, and are almost OEM weight.

I was going to say Garde's, yet then saw you wanted black inter-spokes.....I wouldn't do that, go Miro 111s, they pop a lot more.

Like the AG's...if I got them, though, I'd paint them all silver right away. Hate the black on the inside of the spokes.

@ElliottG - The Avants come in diff colors, gunmetal/machined face, matte black/machined face, matte black, and hyper silver. I just prefer the black/machined face because thats what seems to make them "pop", all hyper silver i dont think they do as much.

@oc cc - I see in your sig you have these wheels and in 19" form. Can you post up a pic of your ride? Im curious because i dont want to get 18s and feel as they are too small and want 19s later. Thanks

@Silverman - The gardes also have concave, im a big fan of concave wheels too, perhaps the pic on the jetta from the side tho doesnt show it the best, but if you look at diff pics, they have some.

And to everyone else, i guess its a no brainer to go with the m310's. I like the miro style alot also, but the AG's seem to win from pricepoint, style, strength and weight.

I chose a rim that looked exact like the m310 (probably made at the same plant) over the 111, because the 111 looked too busy at some angles. Chose it by a small margin. But now almost like the Miro111 more.

To OP the only thing you should consider is what looks better to you. Since the Miro111 is ALSO low pressure cast, manufactured by NKB. Both m310 and 111 (18x8.5) weigh around ~24lbs.

Another option would be Tsw Nurburgring. Not as concave as either 111/310, but is Spun forged (one step up from low pressure cast).

And the m310 is only 18x8 or 9. The 111s are 18x8.5 or 9.5 and pm me for a deal on either one.

Modbargains lists the m310 in 18x8/8.5/9.0 (but could possibly be typo)

The Avant Garde M310 wheels are a great choice. They're low pressure cast and do utilize the same manufacturing process as OEM wheels. We had a limited run of the AG M310 wheels in the 18x8.5 fitment and that is no longer being brought in. They are available in either the 18x8.0 or 18x9.0 fitments for your B5!

So now the next step is, i really would like to see a picture of a b5 with 18"s and another with 19"s.

As of right now im thinking the 18x8 or 19x8.5. I dont plan on running it super low either, i think the most ill be doing with this car is a frankenturbo and possible 5spd swap, so i dont need anything wider then a 8 or 8.5 all around, more then that and its just for looks or if your running alot of awhp and good suspension setup.

Also can someone explain the offset to me, im a little murky on it. I know i have read that spacers either increase or decrease the number, but what number should i be looking for anyways to make sure its flush with my fenders.

Right now with my stock 16" 10 spoke sports im running 20mm spacers all around.

And i also prefer to have the same amount of gap front+rear, if i have to itll have some rake, but i dont want the "tucked" front wheels look either.

For example this jetta with the same wheels is the kind of fitment id want

And after a quick search this is the closest i found to what i mean

I dont like how the fronts arent "poking" as far. I rather have a uniform look then that. But i think thats more of an issue with staggered wheels or people going super low and need to have fronts tuck or using different spacers front and rear.

But i bascially want something along the lines of that blue jetta with "some poke" but uniform front+rear, and i also dont want to deal with messing up my fenders and that kinda shit with really super close fitment.

Edit: So i just found the specs on the ones on the jetta, they are 19x8 et45 front and rear. So i guess i answered my own question about 18 or 19. Its definetly 19 as 18s will look too small for me.
