Showing a little wire on the inside of my front tire, how long do I have?

I'm ordering some Hankook Ventus evo tires but i have to wait for them to come in ; i also need to drive about 200 miles on the highway this wkend. There is a little wire showing on the inside of my front right tire but the rest of the tire as well as the other tires have tread, although they def wouldn't pass an inspection.

How risky is it to be driving in this condition, and what are the consequences, blown tire? Or are we just talking about a loss of tracktion/loss in stopping power?

Nothing major. Blown tire, loss of control, cross lanes and have a head on. Don't worry about it. just let me know where you are going to be driving so I can avoid the area.

I wouldn't chance it. It will endanger you and other around you; especially highway speed. The only distance I would feel safe to drive would be the distance it takes to get to a tire shop.

I wouldn't chance it, but if I absolutely had to I'd rotate the tire and throw it on a back wheel. Only if there was no other choice

you have somewhere between 87 and 94 miles left on it, hard to be more exact with out more detail on the condition.

Used tires around here go for about 40-50 a piece; but these are good used tires... usually 80% tread or more and premium brand/model tires.

Listen to everyone and get new tires and get an alignment. When I did a full overhaul of my suspension I didn't get an alignment right away. My front tires went from 75% tread to near highway fatality conditions in about 9 days time. Don't risk it, go get your tires replaced and get an alignment otherwise you'll just wind up in the same situation soon.

You have your spare tire right? Perfect opportunity to put it to use.

Barring some misguided weight savings measure like removing the spare, just rent a econobox from Avis. Problem solved...

Did you get an alignment too? You'll want to make sure you fix the problem behind that tire wear.
