    B8 S4 supercharger on 3.2 v6 A5???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, so this is what Im interested in. Is it possible? I've seen some site that sells the kit but its like 10 grand and I havent heard good things about them. I found the actual supercharger for 2 grand... so if I can pull this off for like 3500 with the tune I'd like to get it done. From what I have heard, the a5 v6 3.2 motor is pretty much the same as the b8 s4 motor. Same size bore, but the stroke is 3.8mm longer. The s4 has 10.3:1 compression and the 3.2 a5 motor has 12.5:1 compression. Would that bolt on just how to stock intake manifold bolts on? Any helkp or knowledge on the topic is appreciated!

Edit: Found a thread on an audi forum where a guy was selling the s4 supercharegr with map sesnsor and throttle body and he says its for 09+ and also fits the 3.2. I need some more information than that though lol, before I shell out two grand for the supercharger. Posted this in the a5 thread as well.

DONT TELL ME TO GO BUY AN S5! lol

Even though the compression ratios sound close 10.3 for S4 and 12.5 for 3.2 it's a huge difference! I've heard numerous times that the compression is too high in our 3.2 for forced induction unfortunately! I wanted to do this also!!!

Compression can be reduced, you also need to make sure the internals of the 3.2 can handle the boost. But to lower the compression you're going to be adding aftermarket internals so you can get ones that will handle the added power.

Not an easy project though, bolt on it will be.

My buddy is a dealer for OEtuning, and he is owns a local performance shop in here in New York called LoMotion. They specialize in Corvettes and BMW/Audi. I only plan on 5-7 pounds, nothing crazy.

Thicker headgasket will lower to appropriate levels. Have your volume measured first.

    A. I don't think the project can be completed for $3500. (Unless you get free work/tuning by that shop.)
    B. A low boost tune, required on the high compression motor, probably won't make 3.0T power.
    C. High risk of engine damage. SC kits with tunes on the old 3.0 V6 blew a few motors.
    D. BUY AN S5

Not worth it dude, you have to do a lot of work, and at the end of the day you are supercharging an engine that wasn't designed for the application. Your $3500 expectation is really off. Even without labor, it might be around $5000 total.

    B8 S4 supercharger on 3.2 v6 A5???

I've been looking into this for about a year now, IMO not worth it, I was in the same boat as you using 5-7 psi, I read that 7psi would get roughly 100hp gains, but with stock cr you're looking at a cr of like 18:1.. Thicker gasket will not lower enough, a gasket hardly helps and with a thicker gasket you're more likely to blow it out.

So lowering the stroke is the best way, and pulling the engine and rebuild can cost a lot, also unknown of the construction of the head, no clue if they're the same as the 3.0 and if they could handle the psi.

You'd also need a custom tune for the lower boost, I've contacted a few companies that work in the custom tune market and none could give me an answer with the tune. If you have someone that can tune, I'd say forget the s/c get the eurocode headers and look into custom hfc, you'll probly get some good gains on that and it would cost less.

I still don't know of any full stand alone units that can manipulate these ECU's where you can just pick up off the market. Piggybacks won't do what you want it to do, and seems like our ECU's need to be flashed either way. The tool and know how cost boat loads, and that's just for the tune. You'll need to actual get lower compression pistons to drop it down that low. Head gasket will only lower it by tenths. Too bad you're not raising compression, then you could have just decked the heads a little more. lol I'm not sure of any company that currently offers aftermarket pistons for these motors, but it can always be built upon request. That in itself would be a dime. It's def doable, you would just need pretty deep pockets.

I've already fully built my Maxima, so I know a little info here and there. :)

What do you have against buying an S5? I know you said not to say it, but there it is anyway, lol.

For all the time and money you will invest, not to mention being a guinea pig for a project with an unknown outcome, an S5 will give you everything including a warranty. All the gain without any of the pain. Just sayin'.

I test drove 4 different s5's before I bought my car and didn't like them. Way too dissapointed. Thought it would have alot more power, be a lot faster than it actually was. Broke my heart..... maybe I'll just have to wait a few years and buy a 13 RS5.

I did this few years back. Run the thickest head gasket possible. I had my Cr down to around 11.5 and anything past 6 psi it didn't like it.. Tbh get a 3t motor and just toss it in. Less headache and more power and tuning isn't pain in the ****. I say swap a i5 tt-rs. Best Audi motor right now Imo. Love the pissed off sound.
