New S6 vs S4 (Stage 2+)

It shows you how underrated the S6 is. If only the S6 came in a manual. I just can't do the paddle shifters. I drove my friend's new M5 the other night and no matter how fast it is, I just feel like I am not in control without that third pedal.

Test drove an S7 on Saturday. I was shocked at how fast the car is compared to my S4.... And the S6 is about 100 lbs lighter.

A car length in 100ft? Someone flubbed the launch. Though I do wonder if even a S2+ S4 can hold against a stock S6 in the 1/4. The four liter will pull away at 100+. The S6 is yet another Audi that seems severely underrated from the factory :)

Anyone know if the S6 4.0T is physically the same as the S8 engine that puts out 520hp? Is it just tuning differences, or are the parts/turbos different?

The s8 has stronger internals and bigger turbos.

s8 uses a lower compression setup, to net more power out of a larger volume turbo.

The S8 is completely different. Rods, pistons, block, heads, and turbos are all different.

i guess no surprise here, C&D tested the S6 months ago and it ran a 12.1 @ 113 at it weighs some 400+lbs more than the S4. looking at the 1/4 mile thread, that's pretty much in line with the stg2+ tuned S4's. In fact, seems those S4's are trapping a bit higher with that et. so it's obvious that the 420hp mfg claim is vastly underrated, like the S4.

the difference though in that mag test is that the E63 amg and new M5 ran 12.0 and 11.9, but trapped much higher, 124 and 123 mph....which confirms those cars have more power than the S6 (lb/hp), but that the S6 can launch.

If they fit that into a B8, B8.5 S4 size car and make it the B9 RS4 and B9 RS5 I will buy it. Or if they make the S6 in 6MT... I am sure many more of us would jump ship

If the 3.0T made it in the euro A4, I wonder if the 4.0T will make it into the euro S4. I know that doesn't help us stateside but who knows....

Agreed. Drove one last week. Sweet interior but felt ponderous, and, frankly, a bit slow compared to my S4. Hard to believe its only 400 lbs more than S4. I'm pretty old compared to most posters here, but I felt too young to be driving the S6 yet.
