How to make stock stereo louder???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have the stock concert radio, I have XM hooked up though the FM modulator and I also have an IPOD hooked up though the blitzsafe. When I have either of them playing I cannot get them loud enough to hear when I'm driving on the highway w/ my windows and sunroof open??? Is there anything I can do to fix this problem???

I will be looking into new speakers, sub, and amp when I go back to work but till then I just need my music louder, and now and in the future I do not want an aftermarket h/u

you can try this if you're a 99.5 or newer. Hold down the 5 and power button. You see 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5. Use the scan button and turn the code to 8 8 6 9 8 8 6 9. You'll have to do the same for the radio, Aux output, and CD player. See if you hear the difference.

Honestly, there isn't anything you can do without getting an amp and some better speakers that won't distort.

You have to realize that when you are at highway speeds and have the windows open, the rushing air is louder than most stock stereos. You can barely even communicate with a passenger in the car at those times. I usually turn my bass setting way down and set the fader more towards the front. This pushes more power to the front and prevents distortion at higher volume levels.

You can easily reach max volume on the concert radio. After that point, it's time for an audio upgrade. Front speakers alone make a bit of difference but, the concert radio doesn't make a great deal of power to run them. In fact the rear speakers aren't even power by the head unit. The rear speakers are run by a small amp bolted to the magnet of the rear-driverside speaker. The headunit only supplies the signal to the amp.

the whole 5555555 thing only helps adjust the bass and treb and stuff, doesn't really have anything to do with loudness. but hey if you wanna hear your radio on the freeway, roll up them winda's.

Are you sure about that? As far as I know, it's the low, mid, and high range levels - it's an equalizer. If you bring them all the way up you should hear it get louder. It might not sound better, but it should get louder.

I don't even have concert radio. And it's much louder than I ever need it to be. Sound great, as far as stock goes.

Boosting eq settings will only make you run out of power faster.

Boosting EQ settings will help make the sound quality a lot better. There are 8 digits, first 4 are for front, 2nd 4 are for rear. they control bass-low, bass-high, mid, and highs. Theres a FAQ on AW about it.
