Angry Need Some Help please! VAG-COM coding for reverse camera in A4 B7

    Hi all,

I could use some assistance here......

I have installed an MMI and reverse camera in my A4 B7 with RNS-E. The MMI is the T-ERA unit which also has the input for the camera and 12v input from the reverse light circuit, so the MMI video-out switches from iPhone to camera automatically when in the car is in reverse. This part works, and if I choose "TV" on the RNS-E I can view iPhone videon and it switches to the camera when the car is in reverse.

Now, I want it to auto-display camera no-matter what input I am using on the RNS-E.

Using my new VCDS HEX cable I have changed the second digit of the RNS-E coding to be "1" (Lambo) and set channel 4 (rear view camera) to "1" (Lambo installed). I thought I had to run the reverse light 12v to pin C2 on the RNS-E, but with that connected and the VAG-COM coding done, the RNS-E permanently displays the video output from the MMI no matter what gear you are in, and none of the buttons on the RNS-E are operable.

If I disconnect the reverse 12v from pin C2 and still have the coding done, auto switching does not work but the RNS-E operates as normal (with Lambo start-up screen).

What am I doing wrong? I think now after reading alot more, that my RNS-E should get reverse signal from CAN and not need C2, but that is not working, and yet with C2 connected to reverse 12v it goes into this "solid" reverse camera mode described above,

I have also tried other model codings such as R8, with no joy.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Ben in AU.

BTW this is a November 2007 A4 B7 S-Line. It has RNS-E with MFSW, Sat-Nav, Bluetooth, glovebox 6-stacker, and now a "TV" input from my MMI.

    RNS-E software is 0600

    ok I figured it out.....doh!

I was feeding pin C2 on the RNS-E with a feed from the MMI, thinking it was 12v switched to the reverse lights, but of course it was constant 12v designed to power the camera - duh. changed pin C2 to connect to the reverse wire and all is good with the world.
