2013 S6 - after 1 week of ownership. My thoughts...

Long time lurker to this forum, I finally joined.

I can also be found on L4P or 6Speed.

Car's I considered as a DD before getting this, 13 CLS63 - 13 M6..I could have gotten the CLS for a steal, but I am seeing a lot of them running around here in NY. The M6 is still amazing, but it's way more $$ than the S6.

S6...$80k sticker. Only things I didn't get were the Heads up display/Night Vision and B&O system. Those options roughly would have brought the car up to 90k. I leased this car for 2400 out of pocket and 1079/month. Taxes in.

Motor - 4.0 L Twin Turbo 8 making 420hp/400tq.

The interior fit and finish is a 10. Amazing quality buttons/leather and plastic pieces. Even though the car doesn't have the full leather package on the dash and doors - the material still feels solid and doesn't look cheap. Comes stock with the Diamond Stitched seats and Carbon Trim.

The transmission is a 7speed, shift paddle/auto Dual Clutch. I have never seen a car shift this fast. Even driving the car in the comfort mode (audi mmi allows you to pick the driving characteristics i.e. differential, suspension, transmission, exhaust and etc.) The tach just looks like a quick blur. Driving this car in Dynamic mode (essentially the sportiest) - the air suspension lowers, the exhaust note growls, seat belts auto tighten, transmission is super aggressive - I almost feel like when driving, I need to look down at what gear it's in because it shifts that fast.

Some things I don't like - the stock exhaust has a nice purr - But needs more growl behind it. It's a big car and with the 20" stock wheels - it rides amazing. BUT I can see that I will need to tighten the suspension up in the future. A LITTLE sloppy when really pounding it.

Mods in store - Suspension Module/ECU Flash/Downpipes/Exhaust - Wheels. Done. Since it's going to be my DD..I want it to still be able to handle the every day beatings.

It's going to get a full detail from our forum sponsor Dave @Street Dreams on Tuesday. Right now the car has 0 Wax on it. Just a regular wash.

Yeah, very nice review. I've got mine on order just this week. Glacier white on black w/brushed aluminum inlays. but the carbon inlays look terrific so I'm second guessing myself on that one.

Is that the estoril blue? (I'm color blind so they kind of blend together for me).

Lastly: can you or anyone confirm the S6 has the grocery bag hooks in the trunk? That's one of my favorite features on the S4.

With TD1 becoming so prevalent these days, is there going to be a fee if you return a car back to the dealer with that designation after your lease? Even after returning all of the stock parts to the car.

From what I've gathered we're looking at December for tunes (REVO/Stasis). I had an intake and exhaust built last week. You guys are right.. it's way to quiet stock.

Welcome to the forum "HB". You are racking up the miles quicker than most of us on here I think. I think the exhaust sounds pretty good in dynamic mode when you get on it actually. I heard an RS4 in our shop the other day with AWE exhaust on it and it made me drool. I was thinking how cool my car would sound with exhaust on it but I really like the stealthy aspect of it right now. I can drive through my development now without neighbors giving me the "slow down" wave because they think Im going too fast. I could do 15mph in my S4 with exhaust and they acted like i was doing 50.

Regarding the intake, Im about to take mine apart soon just to see how its put together. I want to see if I can get a K&N in the stock airbox like AWE did with theirs.

Sidenote, Im actually thinking of ditching the spare tire and throwing it in the garage just to save weight. Im having a hard time adjusting to the weight/tsize difference of this car and my S4.

Not sure where you are, but where I am (Westchester County) the cops are starting to crack down on windshield tint. I have 35% on both my cars and have only gotten hassled once, I am never going to take it off but just figured I'd throw you a heads up. The day after I got pulled over I threw on the front plates on both cars and so far no more problems. For some reason no front plate really irks troopers.

Wow - and I thought my 07 S6 was too quiet. Surprised to hear that this one is quieter. Definitely needs some exhaust work. I removed the rear resonators on my old S6 and it made a world of difference. It sounded AWESOME. Not sure if the 4.0T would benefit in the same way.

Got pulled over on the Taconic in my R8 for no front plate of all things. Then I realized the trooped that got me, has a black V8 R8. I got off the hook because my cousin is a SGT for them. I usually rarely get bothered.

I see some talk of the quiet exhaust. I've had my S6 just 3 days, quite a change from a loud RS4 and that's one of the things I like, I can push hard without making a spectacle of myself.
I'm liking this car a lot, way faster than expected and the B&O is incredible, still learning how all the toys work for now though.

Got pulled over on the Taconic in my R8 for no front plate of all things. Then I realized the trooped that got me, has a black V8 R8. I got off the hook because my cousin is a SGT for them. I usually rarely get bothered.

Ha no wonder. Today I got stopped on the whitestone bridge because the guy in front of me had his EZ pass malfunction. This port authority officer sees me behind this guy and steps in front of my car and tells me he's going to write me a summons for the windshield tint, I was like are you kidding me??? Fortunately the lady behind me started honking and the guy just let me go, but I couldn't believe it.

B&O is the only option i am missing and i kick my self every time i turn the music up. I thought the bose would be like the b&o in the s4 but i was greatly mistaken

Any issues with the tint? You have 40% windshield? How about the rest? I have 13% on my 13' S5 but want front windshield tint since it looks awesome. I don't want any trouble but I do want it to look sick.

Gotta say your garage is so nice. I had the chance last night to drive an S6, and an R8 V10 Spyder. And holy shit, both are amazing cars. The R8 was in another league, but out of all the S, and RS cars we got to drive, that new S6 is flat out amazing. I couldn't get over how quick. Freeway speed and stabbing the throttle, it had endless power. Just nuts.
