    S4 Rear Valance / Exhaust Tips ??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Question: What Would Be The Best Exhaust Tip Size For The S4 Rear Valance ??

**Note: I have 3.5" singe exhaust tips - Thinking of replace the exhaust tips with 3" Dual Exhaust Tips Stainless.

Would 3.5" Dual Exhaust tips be too large for the S4 Rear Valance ??? - or - Should I stick with the 3" dual exhaust tips for the S4 Rear Valance ??

    Thank You,

For the B6 or B7? B6 can only take single tips on each side unless you cut the black plastic surround. B7 can take duals on each side, or even a single oval on each.

As for "best" size? It's somewhat subjective. For me it's all about balance -- finding tips that don't look too small or too big. But some people love stuffing huge tips under there, a la Nissan GT-R.

Thanks for your helpful input... Am still leaning towards the 3.5" exhaust tips.

I agree that this is somewhat subjective - Having balance / making a statement at the same time.

I would stick with 3" for quads (duals on each side).
    This is Magnaflow's RS4 3" tips on a B7 S4 rear valance.

And as a comparison, this is a 4" single tip look on the same valance.

The single tips part number is 16586 (it's really for the B6 but they also say it's for the B7)
The dual tips part number is 16689

I initially bought the B6/B7 single tip system (as you can see in the second pic) but decided I preferred the dual tips so I kept 2/3 of the B6/7 catback and replaced the 1/3 (the part with the tips) with the RS4 one to get the dual tips.

Thanks for sending the correct Magnaflow Exhaust part numbers for the dual exhaust.

When I check the magnaflow websit the part number you sent me was for the "FULL" exhaust system.
The only dual exhaust tips that I saw on the Magnaflow web-site were the #35172 / but am not sure if they would fit the S4 rear valance ??

**Note: I currently have the APR exhaust on the car with single tips. I would like to just upgrade to the dual tips.

I came across these no name exhaust tips on amazon -- am not sure if they would be as good as the (( Magnaflow / APR )) ??

PS: You made a wise choice in sticking with the dual exhaust tips. Your car looks awesome.

I think the problem with the tips from amazon that you found is that the inlet seems to be centered. From visually looking at the tips coming out of the muffler, the inlet should be slightly on the side as the outlet for the muffler is not perfectly centered to the valance gaps (although this is from memory, I'm not actually looking at it as I write this, something to check on your car first if the muffler's outlet is dead center with your valance gap).

As for the part numbers, yes, it's for the full catback, not only the tips. I don't think Magnaflow sells the muffler/tip/piping portion on its own. Things to look into I guess. If you already have a 2.5" catback system, I agree it would make more sense to only swap the tips, just visually check and measure everything first (including length from the muffler to the valance, you don't want your tips to stick out by a couple inches).

    Axel:

Thank you for the helpful input regarding the exhaust tips. I think you are correct with regards to the tips that I found on amazon. From there pic they look nice. I don't think the quality
    matches the Magnaflow ??

After re-checking with Magnaflow the (2) tips that were of interest are: #35169 & #35168.

I decided to with the Magnaflow #35168 !!

    Again, Thank You !!

    Bump...

Axel do you have the part number for the B7 A4 rear valance? Is it the same for sedan as it is avant? I have a B6 magnaflow here that Id like to use on my B7 sedan, and if its as easy as swapping out the rear valance to the A4 S-line part, that sounds like the way to go...

I don't have a part number but I believe there aren't many options. I suggest you call or drive over to your local dealership and discuss it with them.
I ended up buying a slightly used RS4 Magnaflow from a local user, only used the 3rd section (with the quad tips) and left the first two sections on (from the B6 Magnaflow) and sold the 2/3rds RS4-1/3rd S4 Magnaflow to an RS4 owner to solve my problem. This way, I have a resonated quad tip Magnaflow catback.

Yeah im torn with what I want to do...

I got the B6 magnaflow for christmas, and im trying to decide whether I want to use the B6 exhaust and put an A4 valence on the back...OR...return it for the RS4 magnaflow and potentially deal with it being too loud and/or not fitting properly

    I really cant decide.

Just go with the RS4, see how it is and if it's too loud, have resonators added in by an exhaust shop. The RS4 exhaust though is more expensive than the S4 exhaust.

yikes... sorry but 4" is too big. It gives a much unneeded almost double fart-can ricer look to what most people will see as an A4... until they hear it of course and then they will be like "WTF did that person do to that A4 it sounds like a dragon!"
