Performance B8 Audi A4

Well i'm new to this forum but i'm looking for some ideas for quick performance parts or tuning for my B8 A4 Quattro 2.0t. I'm a Marine stationed at Twentynine Palms and just got back from my 2nd deployment and would love to find some cheap parts I can use. This car is my life at the moment one of the only things that keep me happy so any input is greatly appreciated!!

i sharpen ninja stars on the weekend so i say buy sway bars and a tune then hfc+dp+exhaust and then coil overs and a bbk after that fmic and wheels...

honestly, your occupation has nothing to do with what improves your car. not saying this to be a dick but it really doesnt have any relevance in the thread.

(two generations of usmc in my family with usaf, and one currently in the army i am no stranger to people who have volunteered their service or made a career of it, i just dont see the relevance of it in asking about what makes your car better. my apologies if it came out the wrong the way.)

i am partial to giac. comes on strong, holds well and no issues to date or regrets.

I get what your saying...You just got back from a shitty deployment....have a shitty life in the stumps and want something that's gonna keep you sane,so dont waste your time with stupid mods, or to cheap of ones that make you have to redo it and pay twice....It really does tell us how much more important this is to you then some, and I agree that a little personal background helps to give opinions or advice on mods...and ones that will benefit you more to take your mind off your shitty duty station

nope. all the answers are found in the 'archives' using search... there really hasnt been any earthbreaking developments in the last few weeks or months. everyone is waiting with bated breath for rai and v2 dyno runs of apr. what else is there?

You did nothin wrong man, this guy is a veteran member, and shouldn't treat new guys like this. I would do a search though.. you can find threads like "top 5 performance upgrades", etc. Probably much more information in those threads then you'll get here, and if you have a specific question, ask it... then we can help.

Best thing to do is a little recon right now though.

Damn, this thread got crazy... Yoder, listen to what Okan says and do a little recon with some searches first. Honestly, it all depends on what "performance" you're looking for; ie. suspension, HP gains, etc... One thing you'll notice is that almost nothing comes "cheap"...

Welcome! As others have mentioned, there are some good comparisons, especially for tunes. Sorry if missed it, but didn't see anything about a drop for the car. I got springs (Eibach Pro-Kit) installed as one of the first things for about $600 total. Others do coilovers for more, but you get much more flexiblity.

For tunes, you will probably see APR is the most popular, then probably a tie between REVO and GIAC. The tunes themselves all seem to have been extremely safe (although a few have had trouble with the actual ECU, but not engine issues from the tune). If you hold off a bit longer, RAI (a sponsor here) has said that Eurodyne is releasing Maestro for our cars, which would allow a self tune. If you get extra time looking around, there is some good info in the B7 A4 section on Maestro.

Either way, welcome again! Many on here get really sensitive about new threads on here. Oddly enough, they continue to repeat themselves with posts that keep bringing it to the top. Just have to sort through the advice and the BS/wasted posts.

You want power? Get a tune...APR or GIAC find a local dealer.

How do you like the borla exhaust? Any sound clips?

i have APR and loving it so far. but all the tunes are good, i dont think theres one thats "better"
you've already got the intake, getting a test pipe and tune thats about as far as you wanna take it for performance bolt ons.
you could just splooge and get the K04 kit i know you have that deployment money to blow!!

I was looking into that also. I'm getting conflicting reports about whether the filter will fit into my car properly or not. Some sites are saying its for the B7 only, while others are saying its for B8. Confusing shit.

For the best bang/buck: Stage 2 tune/testpipe/FMIC.

If you can spend a little more $$, but need to be able to smog your car: K04 with a good tune (possibly a custom tune or a company other than APR).

If you can spend more $$$ and don't need to worry about smog: EFR, internals, FMIC, fueling, testpipe

i have a neuspeed tune and i love it. they are local to me (thousand oaks) so i went with them incase there were any problems. The car drives great and has a lot more pull now.

i would go tune and intake but since you already have the intake go with hfc/downpipe/exhaust.

You may want to look into getting an intake as well. One of the setups most of our A4 customers like is the InJen Cold air intake. By freeing up airflow to the engine, the Injen Cold Air Intake for the Audi B8 A4 will yield gains up to 12hp and 16lb/ft torque to the wheels. These significant power gains are made possible because the Injen Cold Air Intake uses less restrictive aluminum piping in combination with a large, reusable cone air filter for maximum air flow and velocity into the engine. The Injen intake also places the air filter lower in the engine bay, further away from the excessive heat the engine produces. This cooler air provides the engine with more combustion, which translates into more power. It's available in either polished stainless or laser black for you to choose from.
