The computer logs anything and everything. You will always find something weird in there depending on how often you check it.

It occurred once and about a month ago. Clear it and re-scan after a couple of days or so.

I might keep an eye on it then take it to a dealer when you get time. I had a couple one off codes (ABS and AWD). The ABS was nothing but a sensor needed replacing on the sport diff.

I've always run scans with the ignition on but the engine off. I've never received engine speed errors.

It's funny to come from the B5 world to the B8 world and read. The check engine light or a fault code always scares the pants off the new Audi owners but in the B5 world, the check engine light just means that the car is probably still running. lol

Joking aside, just clear it. These cars are very picky and throw faults if it detects things even just slightly out of "range." This is especially true when you talk about fuel trims. It used to be a variance of 10% but it's now closer to 5%. If you have a fault that's bad enough to cause any issue you'll get a light.
