In need of help bad! 2002 A6 3.0l, no power running lean

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
First things first, Some of you may know i have posted this up before and i thought i had fixed my issue but with my luck it was not the case. So here is my second atempt at trying to get some more help. (please don't get mad at me for making a new thread i thought the other one would just confuse people) Thanks AZ,

Ok so the history, I got the car from an old man with the CEL on. He said his shop said it was the cats. Got a deal on the car so i drove it home. FIRST thing i notice is the car has a few mis fiers at idle, Second thing i notice is when i leave a dead stop the car JUMPS and looses power, The third is the LOSE in power i mean it has no power at all. Some of the things i have checked and or replaced. Replaced pcv, fuel filter. I have checked, cleaned and adjusted the gap on the plugs .044". When i checked them i can see that they were running super lean!!(i'm figuring this is the lose of power. no fuel no go) I have checked the fuel pump and it seams fine not sure what its pumping (psi) but it is running and if i pull the fuse it kills the motor after a sec. I've checked for vacuum leaks and only found one on the vcg, replaced that and fixed nothing. I do not have a scanner but every time i do something i pull the neg side of the battery to clear the code and then run the car. All the shops around me want 75+$ to scan it and thats just for them to say "well it could be this this this or this...... 1 million dollars" If it comes down to that i will take it to them but i wanted to give this one more shot. I'm great with working on cars i have a garage full of tools but just need some one that knows about audi's a little more than me. Thanks to anyone with some input.

Please don't judge me if i misspelled anything, im on my phone. (my spelling is a little derrr anyways) Thanks again guys!!!!!

(EDIT)I got my vag-com today and this is the results.

I know that this is more than the $75 scan check but this has come in VERY handy for me! It can really help troubleshooting so your not replacing things that dont need replacing. Im not really sure how much help people will be able to give you without having the codes. Hope you can figure it out. From my understanding running lean conditions can really do damage. (anyone correct me if im wrong) Goodluck.

Yeah, vag-com is obviously the true way to go. Although the scanner is very handy, always in the glovebox and there really is no learning curve to it, vag-com does do much more.

Pay the hour diagnosis and take it to a dealer. Everyone on here calls them stealerships but taking it to an indy for a cheaper diagnostic fee sometimes doesn't work out to your advantage. Nice thing about a dealer is they work on these cars all day long, seen almost everything that goes wrong with Audis and if not has many resources like Audi tech line, scan tools, leak detection tools, etc...

    18057 - Powertrain Data Bus: Missing Message from ABS Controller P1649 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
Wiring problem or bad ABS controller or blown fuse to ABS

Code 16955 - Brake switch: Implausable signal
Brake switch at pedal is bad or wiring problem there

Couldn't find any reference to a 19760 - what were these codes pulled with? They don't seem to have anything to do with your problem...

Well I'm guessing the first and third go with the abs module being bad......but the other I saw on the forum was something about b1 cam position and crank position? Anyone know what that could be? I mean I know they could be bad but is there a way to see if that's the case? Any help would be great thanks

Read my link. He was pulling the same code as you and fixed it in the end.

So if I read the link correctly the issue the other guy had was the cam adjuster was not working properly and he replaced it and it fixed it? If this is what I need to do I really want to hook it to a vag or something to confirm that this is the issue before spending 800$ on that part. Do you think my cheap ass scanner could have read a code that's not right or anything like that?

Got my Vag-com today and posted the codes up top. I pulled out the "No fault" ones btw. As i read the codes i saw cam and crank position sensors, this is my first time using a vag-com but im not a car dummy so im thinking this is it. Saw a few other things but im not sure whats they mean. Any helpful info would be great. Thanks guys
