HI GUYS!! AFTER GOING THROUGH SO MUCH S#I@ FINALLY GOT MY BI XENONS INSTALLED. I BOUGH THE HEADLIGHTS SECOND HAND BUT CAME OFF THE SAME CAR. PROBLEM IS THAT MY DRL'S ARE TWO DIFFERENT COLOURS. ONE OF THEM IS REALLY WHITE AND THE OTHER ONE IS MORE DETAILED YELLOWISH/WHITE COLOUR? ANY SUGGESTIONS. COULD THIS BE THE BALLAST?

The DRL is a halogen bulb, not ballast issue.
    Rip on it...

Not much help here, but somewhere there is a thread (maybe a thread within a thread??) with some info on this. If I remember right, Greg Nelson had some info/comments on it. Again, not much help, but maybe a starting place or someone else can chime in.

Sell the car! Blinker fluid is leaking into the headlight and discoloring the light! It sounds like a lemon.

I remember reading a thread on it as well. There was one in the in the classified section about his drl being different colors and he had a link to a post about it. But it's not up anymore. If I remember correctly it had something to do with the led being a defect? I believe he had one yellowish/white and the other was a purple/white hue to it.

Buy another housing and sell the other one.
Should be able to find one on eBay.de.

I think you're in the wrong forum

Quite a few people have had this problem - I believe the difference in color is caused by the LED strips themselves, so you're only option is to replace the housing (and, of course, it isn't guaranteed that a replacement will match the other).

I am on my second set and they differ a bit, less than the first set but I can still see the difference. As per Audi it is normal

You could try to salvage a DRL LED strip from another housing, maybe a slightly damaged housing could be had for cheap... but like Nick said no guarantee it will match either.

Are they both OEM? One of mine was made by an aftermarket company and had a slightly blue tint to it. Finally got Audi to replace it after some serious bitching and them guaranteeing me that the car hadn't been in an accident.

the different colors are because audi used different manufacturers/companies for the leds. you will find several earlier cars that came from the factory and had mismatched bulbs. this problem was b8 wide not just on the a4. dealers replaced on a case by case basis based on aoa approval. the dealers would not warranty a new set of headlights if they were not going to be reimbursed. some people received a new matching set others did not.

i dont think the OEM one is a 'strip', it's individual LEDs that you'd have to pull out and i assume re-solder back in, pita if you ask me. not a simple strip of LEDs like aftermarket ones.

It's a PITA to get at, but comes out as an assembly

On our 1st 09 A4 over about a 6month period one side started to become more yellow. Brought it up to the dealer and they replaced it and both matched after that. There is a thread on it. But after some time I read several owners pointing it out the dealer only to have it considered normal and refused to change them. It may be a dealer to dealer issue but may also be that AOA decided not to replace these any longer. My guess is these came off one of the early models and the only fix is to replace the yellowing one with a brand new, not 2nd hand headlight assembly. There was no windshield wiper leak like someone suggested.

Nowhere that I'm aware of, you'd have to salvage parts (DRL/LED assembly) from another headlight. I've gone as far as trying multiple times to contact Automotive Lighting (OEM) to see about sourcing repair parts and cannot get their NA contact to return my calls.
