When it was reported in the US I read "sparks and flames could be seen coming from under the car". Now I see where that came from, the reporter obviously had difficulty understanding what a thermal image is.

I'm not at all clear what was "modified" about it. 155mph limiter removed? The US report said one of only two in the UK too.

The reporting is terrible. "a modified RS5 - it had a Lamborghini engine". Apart from the fact that it implies the RS has a Lambo engine (which it doesn't, its a new design based on the Lambo V10), it implies that they modified the car ADDING a Lambo engine.

£85,000 is the cost of a fully loaded RS5 with every possible option including the most expensive Audi exclusive upholstery and trim on every inch of the interior... reality is, it was probably £70,000. As for there being two in the UK... well there are at least 10 UK owners on A5OC who post all the time about their cars! At a guess I'd say there are probably 500 or so in the UK - maybe only 100 facelifts.

The entire chase lasted an hour and covered 65 miles - so they couldn't have been doing 170/74/80 for long at all!

It's shameful what the papers and reporters come up with =/ and as menacing as it makes the RS5 look to Joe Public... it will only serve the police to be more strict when they see one!

It's an expensive option. Even on unlimited roads in Europe there is a "gentleman's agreement" that you shouldn't exceed 155 - and the reality is very few people do. The option is there to get money out of people who need to know that there is no limit... easy money for Audi.

I can't imagine even 1% of U.S. RS5 owners hitting 155 let alone 174!
