    Muffler delete on 3.0T????

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Anyone simply deleted the muffler (or mufflers?) on the C6 3.0T? I haven't even looked underneath to check out the setup for this car. The cost of a complete catback seems a bit absurd to me, and I've had good luck in the past deleting mufflers and keeping the resonators in.

    Has anyone done this?

    Thanks

I debated on doing this, but its all one piece, so If i would want to be louder I would go with electronic cut outs. Go super loud haha.
    Anyway I haven't seen and 3.0T muffler deletes but here's a 3.2 A5

Yes, I watched that one. Thanks :)

Now, as far as the exhaust setup on the 3.0T, is there just one muffler to cut out or does the piping split to two 'Back Boxes' (as the british would say) ?

again, thank you for your help

My car is a 2009 2.0TDI so there is no need to get sound improved (i think at least a V6 is needed for that), but i do want quad tips just for the looks! Because i have 2 exhaust pipes on each side, i can put quads! I've found some Magnaflow 'Y' quad tips that resemble the S6, but my question is : can i simply remove the stock A6 tips and replace with the quads 'Y' shaped tips?(after i install my new S6 rear bar of course)

On stock rear valance, will be quite hard..unless you go with really tiny quad's maybe.

I order the S6 rear bumper and valance. My question is , on the A6 the tips are sawed to the mufflers or is there some mechanism that holds them and they can be replaced easily? Sorry for my bad English :(. I want to replace just the tips and not the entire circuit!

Yes, the tips are part of the muffler..they would have to cut them off the muffler.

EDIT: just saw the video - no it's not like that, there is no bolt or anything that holds the tips to the muffler =P

Yes sir. Using your above picture, what I did was chop of the rear mufflers and weld the new quad tips onto a pipe and welded the other end to the end of the exhaust (where the muffler used to be) and left everything else. Now I have been considering the idea of removing the center resonators just to see how much louder the car would be lol

I was going to try this today, It is a little more difficult than I first thought, the pipe before the muffler is on an angle so you can't use a straight pipe, and you can't use a flex pipe because the mount will cause the exhaust to sag.
So you would need to heat it up and bend it, or get a small angled piece.

305, you have a bent piece that connects to your quad tips?

305 - just wondering ..did you consider deleting just the rear resonator only instead of the mufflers? Would have been interesting to see what that would sound like.

Haven't thought of that really..was considering straight piping the car and if it was too loud for my liking, get magnaflow mufflers put on..but as of right now, i like it the way it is now =)

Are you sure? Stasis had the stock 3.0T A6 listed as 2.0" and their aftermarket as 2.25"... Could be an error but I always followed their claims.

I know it is not the 3.0T but the S6 has 2.25" true dual. I am removing the middle resonators and installing an x-pipe. If that is not what I want then Magnaflows with wide oval tips will go in for the rears.

You would definitely benefit from a full 2.5-3.0" full exhaust with that 5.2 v10.

Well, I found some fantastic-looking 4" tips (I've decided to stay with duals rather than 'Quads') and I will be doing a massive weight-reduction, chopping off the rear mufflers and installing new the new tips tomorrow. Pix and Video shall precipitate.
I threw in the towel and decided not to buy a new bumper, nor will I sawzall my current valence and have it reshaped to accommodate the quads.

I am also now working with my local GIAC-certified speed shop on a true cold air intake with a black paint-matching heat shield (that will match the Audi engine) We've been looking at it for days, and it seems pretty likely a 'legitimate' intake could be fabbed. I'll keep you all posted.

That's exactly what I'm looking for is 4" tips - mind sharing where you found them?

Didn't someone on here already do a true cold-air intake for the A6 3.0? Was in SinCity or someone else - they're available for order too.

Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o01_s00_i00 The 4" tips fill in our rear valence PERFECTLY! and the picture does not do them justice, these are 'Angle-cut' so they look like they belong on the rear of our car.

I'm also going to wrap the piping with Thermo-tec, and build a full powder-coated heat-shield. The pretext of the whole project being that it will scream, biut it will also look very 'OEM+'
Also, going to put a nice factory audi emblem on it, maybe an 'S-line' emblem... have not decided yet.... I'm referencing how AMG engines look under the hood with high end parts like Renntech and Kleeman. I want this intake to be show-worthy, and be less-likely to make an Audi technician frown.
