    Stock swaybar endlinks are Plastic?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Upon finding out that my rear passengers side endlink broke, i looked around at getting a new one to replace it. Was not until then that i found out they are Plastic.

Is it just me or does this seem odd? Shouldn't that component be made of something stronger?

Anyone else have a rear swaybar endlink break?

S4's came with plastic, RS4 had metal. If you go to NAPA they have metal ones like the RS4 ones that are quite durable, cheap, and at least a 3 year warranty IIRC.

Or you could take it a step further and go with our fully adjustable spherical Sway Bar End Links.

Fully rebuildable, even stronger/stiff then the updated metal OEM links, and allpw you to dial out the preload +10 year old chassis often experience.

034 end links f/r quick review

Been meaning to do this. I added the 034 front and rear end links on the stock sway bars. YES there is a difference the rear bar can do its job with out binding the rear there is a little less lean and the rear rotates just a hair better now that the bar can do its job. The OEM stuff is VERY flimsy!!! I could move the lower rubber bushing and bolt with very little pressure the movement was unbelievable. The front now has a little more bite on initial input and a little less lean with the stiffer bushings. There is no increase in NVH at all. Although I have not changed the bars, this upgrade was worth while. Speak with Jeremy @ 034 who took great care of me and provided great customer service.

    Thanks Ynot!

I run the links on my B5 A4 as well, with a factory bar, and I was amazed at how much of an actual handling difference it made. Without even changing the bar, the car was able to rotate quicker and was far more stable. Makes you realize that a lot of people with upgraded rear sway-bars are not getting the full benefit of their upgrade since the factory end-links can flex so much.

The other nice thing about our adjustable links is that they allow you to keep the bar parallel to the ground after lowering your car; for the best most predictable performance, you want the bar to be parallel.

Or you can make your own with spherical bearings for super cheap. Stuff like this is a waste of money buying pre-made when you can get the parts for dirt cheap.

I installed the rear sway bar links from a '94-'96 RS2. They're solid metal, much stronger, less prone to breakage or flexing. The part numbers, if interested, are as such:

    8A0 505 465 D (DS) / 8A0 505 466 D (PS)

They're a perfect fit, no noticeable change in suspension geometry. Keep in mind, I installed these with a Hotchkis rear sway.

I think these would be difficult to diy do to the bend in the link.

Edit: 034's old swaybar links didnt have the bend so they had to have spacers to push the bar back enough to clear the straight links

I too was shocked to find out they are plastic, I got the 034 rear sway bar and was checking under the car to see how the install would go when I noticed. I purchased the 034 endlinks shortly after haha! There was no way I was going to install a beefier RSB with those stock endlinks! Still waiting to install both but i'm excited as I have read a lot of positive here on the different the RSB and endlinks make.
Looking for a good shop north of Boston, call Eurosport Performance

Where did you end up ordering these end links?
