I know conversion has been covered in other threads, but I have not seen anything in which a fwd A6 had been converted to manual. I have a car with 55,000 miles on it, with a failed cvt trans. Does anyone know what model number manual transm
I am also wonderine has heard feedback--one way or another--rarding a Quattro trans being set up to run fwd? At this point I have a beautiful sedan at is basically "salvage," when the market price of the car is around $9,000, at best, and a properly remanufactured cvt, shipping, and installation will run around $5,000.

    Thanks.

I would think you MAY be able to do a 5 speed swap. If i remember correctly the 3.0 came in 5 speed FWD in the a4 so that should be a fit. Not 100%

Thank you for the quick replies. Does anyone know the model codes for the manual transmission(s) suitable for use with my AVK code 3.0 liter engine? Thanks in advance.

    01E 6spd (used on 02 and 03 3.0s), 01X and 02X 6spd (used on 04 and 05 3.0s), and 01A 5spd....01E is the best due to better gear ratios.

Do the FWDs have all the spaces needed to add the prop shaft/rear diff/ axles? I know you can swap O1A tip 5speeds and O1E manual sixes around, as long as every drivetrain components are swapped, because there was already space for the components.

And you can make a quattro 2 wheel drive, but involves some complex welding of the torsen diff. not worth it.

The O1X should work in your CVT-failed trans.
