    Headlight washer pump replacement

Welp, I've got a pretty nasty washer fluid leak and I've found the source of it. My headlight washer pump is completely rusted and cracked in half. It looks like a real pain to access, anyone replaced this before? Do you need to take the bumper off to get at the pump? Any input is appreciated, thanks.

Why not block off the pump completely? Those headlight washers chew up your fluid pretty well. Then you could take off the caps and shave the bumper - but now it's just wishful thinking. The pump does indeed look like the car needs to be in service position unless you have a master mechanic who also doubles as a small child.

I have my car apart, and still could not locate that pump. Where is it? But as mentioned above, just cap off the hose that joins the one coming from the tank to the bumper.

Its about halfway up the washer reservoir. You can see it looking down from the engine bay right past the power steering reservoir. And the thing is, even if I was to plug the tank I still need to access the pump and remove it and plug it. So the amount of work to replace the pump or just plug the hole in the washer tank is the same.

You may not need to place the car in the service position. Just move the front clip forward some (I do this all the time when there is work that looks like it needs to be in the service position), and that should create enough working room. Bumper will def need to come off, though. Just those 2 little torx bits by each headlight, the 2 hoses to the charge pipe under the radiator (only need to be loosened and pushed back like an inch), loosen the t-45 bumper shock bolts (no need to take fully out), pull forward front clip forward, and go to work.

Just finished up installed both new washer pumps, wasn't too bad once the bumper was off. Service mode (even in the "makeshift" service position) wasn't necessary. I think I had a little easier time too because I don't have my SMIC and associated plumbing there anymore. Thanks for the tips guys.

Headlight pump was $20, windshield pump was $12. I got them through my work (I work at a dealership)

I just got mine from PureMS.

But why take off bumper? you can just remove wheel and wheel liner, maybe take off the washer fluid reservoir, and there you have it.

It was easier for me to access the pump from the front area with the bumper off, as opposed to from the back from the wheel liner area. Plus taking the bumper off is a 10 minute max task for me at this point.
