Will Quattro coilovers fit fwd set up

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey Guys,

A mate of mine has offered me a coilover kit which was taken off his quattro B7. I have a fwd B7 and was wondering if it will fit ok?
Will I have an issue with the spring rate?
Will the kit go straight on?

    Thanks in advance.

From my understanding, they will "fit" - however the main difference here is like you said - the spring rate. The quattro system weighs something like an extra 150 lbs if I am not mistaken. Therefore, the quattro springs will be slightly stiffer than the fwd springs. I'd like others to chime in, but I think it should "fit" physically fine, but it just might be stiffer than a fwd setup.

I purchased a set of Vogtland coilovers at Waterfest, he said they only have a model that fits both quattro and FWD. I hope they didnt lie to me just to make a sale.

Not a direct answer to you question, but may help a little:

I don't have coilovers, but I do have straight up quattro s-line springs on my FWD, and I love them. They feel great and the drop is perfect for me (with B5 spring perches on the front).

I just put 2008 B7 quattro Sline springs on my 2008 FWD, and it looks good to me.

Rear checked in at 27" fender to ground on stock springs. With quattro, s-line springs, I'm sitting at 26.25 rear. Not bad for a conservitive drop.
The fronts didn't drop too much. Went from 27" to 26.5". I'll rectify that with B5 lowering caps.

The ride is great too paired with s-line, quattro shocks.

    Here are the pics!
Note on wheels: 18X8, ET45. 10 mm spacers front, 12.5mm rear.

Installed B5 spring perchs today. This is it for me. Perfect DD drop. FYI, this is 2008 B7 A4 AWD s-line supsension + B5 lowering caps on a 2008 B7 A4 FWD. Measures 26.25" FTG front and 26.25" FTG driver rear. Passanger rear is 26"

My post and pics above saw fronts were 26.5", but I measured before this install and they were at 26.75". Not sure how they raised, but I can see noticable difference with these B5 caps on.

Thanks for the feedback fellas. I've spoken to the garage who sells them and they have told me it wont fit but alot of guys of now told me they will???? I think most garages will only fit specific parts to specific cars and will not modify like us guys do... I understand the concept of them being firmer due to the weight difference. I'll post some pics when I've fitted them.. :)

    Cheers

A b7 is a b7 when it one to suspension(and really it's actually a b6). Fwd/quattro doesn't matter besides spring rate an even then it's not a whole lot different.

Post some pictures. How low are you? Can't you just raise it?

Yes I figured he meant that, I just hope he's not serious changing the diameter to lift up the car.

I am glad you got this resolved, wish I had found this sooner. I can confirm I have also fitted H&R Street and Tein SS coilover kits meant for Quattro onto my FWD. I think the main difference is higher rear spring rate to compensate for the heavier rear subframe. I have found the Quattro spec coilover along with the RS4 rear sway bar are a great combo to improve understeer.
    Rip on it...
