Need Advice re: CEL/Fault Code. Unbalanced Fuel/Air Mixture

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, I was hoping to tap into the forum's knowledge and see what people think about a CEL that popped up over the weekend. VCDS yielded the following fault code in the Engine console:

    123 - Fuel/Air Mixture Cylinder 2
    P219D 00 [237] - Unbalanced
MIL ON - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
    Freeze Frame:
    Fault Status: 000000001
    Fault Priority: 2
    Fault Frequency: 2

The car is APR Stage 2 so I'm not overly excited about heading straight to the dealer so that they can pronounce the car TD1 and refuse to work on it. Right now I suppose my plan is to call my indy/APR dealer and talk it over with him. I'm wondering if it's worth having him flash back to stock and then take it into the dealer, or just have him look at it.

I haven't tried clearing the code to see if it comes back.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I got the exact same error on another user's Stasis S4 except his was cylinder 5. We cleared the code and as of now it has not come back and I know he has not had the CEL come back yet and he has driven it a bit.

Clear the code and drive it for a few days to see if it comes back. If you had an unbalanced air/fuel problem in a cylinder, the car would probably be running a little rough. If you are not noticing a rough running, probably what happened is the sensor got a bad reading for just a couple seconds, long enough to give the CEL, but then the reading got better. The CEL won't go away until it is cleared even if the cause is fixed or gone.

As for flashing back to avoid TD1, I personally have flashed back to stock with my A4 and not come up TD1. Don't take that as gospel, maybe AoA has figured a way to find it even if you are flashed back to stock.

I'm with the previous poster. Clear it and see if it comes back. If it does, get flashed back to stock and get your stock pulley put back on before taking it into the dealership.

The CEL has not come back on since Stubek cleared it on Saturday. Put on nearly 90 miles since then and the car seems to be running good!

Bumping this thread instead of starting a new one.

Same error code in cylinder 6. Cleared but returned. Noticed intermittent rough idle around 1400 but this engine isn't so smooth under 2000 rpm to begin with.

Has anyone else had similar issues, and what was the diagnosis?
