    Gas pedal clicking?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello everyone,

After reading this forum for weeks, I guess it's time to join.

3 months ago I bought a new 2012 S5 coupe and I could not be happier!
Well, I would be happier if my AWE track exhaust and non res downpipes showed up... It's been 4 weeks and from what I have read, it might be a while more. And without ever hearing one in person, I hope I made the right call.

Anyways, seeing as this is my first Audi, I do have a question.
I have a manual gearbox and when I am fully in first gear and starting moving I can hear two clicks and feel them in the gas pedal. It only happens it seems after the car has sat parked for a while. So if I come to a stop at a light and start driving again I doesn't happen. Is this a normal Audi thing?

Finally if it was your car, what would be your next mod? springs/swaybar/short shifter/other (no supercharger- will make the wife upset... One day...)
I already have a S-Flow CAI, and aluminum pedals, and have my own car lift so I do all my own work. Unless its painfully hard.

    Thanks!

I have definitely heard the clicking you are talking about, but it was at random times. I was never able to figure it out or purposely reproduce it to point it out at dealer, so i just ignored it, but I definitely know what you are talking about. Maybe someone else will chime in who knows what's going on.

Another thing that annoys me that wipers will slightly move(or at least seem to move) on random times when you start the car(no rain). I can never tell if they actually moved, because they are below visibility line when you start the car. It bugs me.

The only thing that I have noticed with the gas pedal is that, when you "floor it" and you think it's gone all the way, if you keep pressing down, the pedal actually depresses about another couple inches. It kind of like clicks then, like an old school headlight dimmer switch. Some of you out there know what I'm talking' bout..Hmm? Hmm? ;)

I remember having this happen to me, but like said before, randomly and not all that often. As for your upgrades, whatever makes you happy depending on your budget. But for most, it's stance, springs/coils/etc. or exhaust. I'm moving to exhaust or intake next myself.

I also noticed tonight that when I turn traction control off, it says that it's off in English but when I turn it back on I believe it is French that it informs me in.... Weird.

I've noticed the same as the original poster. I feel a click in the gas when taking off from start...usually on first drive. Dont really feel like its a big deal since its not consistent.... *shrug*

Maybe you get the Canadian market mmi. It tells you everything in both English and French. :/ seriously though, I would imagine it being Spanish given that you are in the states. hopefully it is a minor and isolated software. Bug since we are screwed if the system restarts in Chinese! :p

I was wondering the same thing, I just bought my first audi 2013 s4. The clicking doesn't happen after a cold start overnight. Only after it's driven/warm then I let it sit for like an hour thenreverse, put it in to drive and go. I can feel a clicking in the accelerator pedal? I see a few people on the forums say they feel it too, guess its normal?

Sounds like the auto brake checking system doing its checking thing.. Usually happens when you first move off after being parked awhile or overnite..

Sounds like the electronic parking brake disengaging. Try engaging it and stepping on the gas to disengage it and see if it sounds the same.

Every time you start your car and start to roll for the first time, your ABS will do a self check. Normal and I've noticed it more on my b8.5 compared to my b6 and b7 vehicles. Don't sweat it.
