Cam follower: what method did you use to relieve fuel pressure?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Been seeing two methods:
    1. Removing fusses (http://freepdfhosting.com/8791e81dac.pdf)
    2. Unscrewing the black valve

    Thanks all.

    Never have,
I unscrew the rail line slowly. When fuel starts to bleed or piss out I walk away and have a beer or
    Sandwich.

There's also a pressure test port on the new pumps, you can take a pen and push in the valve to bleed the low side pressure.
Letting the car sit for a few hours lets the car cool down and most of the fuel pressure will relieve by itself

this...was quick and easy. I have a later model fuel pump with the valve, but this took no time at all.

Yep, fuse here also. I think #28 is right. Third up from the bottom left. Pull fuse, let car run til it dies.

^^ This. I have never pulled the fuse. I just put paper towels around the bleed screw, and let it open slowly. It takes about 2-3 minutes. I also don't unplug the battery. If you do not unplug the battery, just make sure to not open your driver's side door as the pump will start back up.
