    2013 a4 or 2013 a5?

    Hello Audizine community!
New to the forum and never owned an Audi.

So I was set on getting a 2013 A4 (by next weekend the latest). But when I asked my friends what they thought, half said nice choice and the other half said why don't you get a 2013 A5 instead. It seems like a tough call since they're similar in price. So what to do? A4: I don't really need 4drs but it is more convenient for everyday usage. I'm guessing the ride will be more comfortable as well. A5: Maybe better handling because of the body type. And of course gets a lot of looks.

Problem with getting an A4 is it won't get as many looks as an A5 and I believe it won't handle as good as an A5.
Problem with getting an A5 is 2dr might get annoying later, cost a bit more and same engine @ only 25lbs. lighter.

The A4 I was planning to buy: Premium Plus Quattro, 6 speed M/T, MMI Navi, B&O speakers and Adv. Key. So if I was to get an A5 it would prob be with same options.

I'am knocking on 30's door, no kids, live in NYC.
Which one should I get? Maybe some pros and cons about both as I have never driven/owned an Audi. Thanks.

If I didn't need the extra doors, I wouldn't have looked at the A4. The A5 has significantly less rear leg room - the car is shorter and that's what they cut. It also takes ages to wait for the motors to fold the seats to get access to the back.

Ummm I see a million A5's a day, they're not exactly head turners anymore. If you want to stand out, I never see any C class coupes. But as for styling, the A5 is obviously a more stylish car

Thanks guys. Gunsmoker, I just thought the A4 was nice regardless. But yeah that motor for the seats will prob get annoying. But it might be worth the aggrevation for the sexy A5... Haha. But I have no idea. I had an Acura RSX type S(M/T), it was great and I loved it. Until the stiff shocks and folding seats got to me. So after that I bought an Acura TL (A/T). Another good car but the A/T might have tainted my exp. The TL handled like crap compared to the RSX. The long body made it roll like crazy. But it was comfortable and as fast as the RSX some what. Basically I can't make up my mind so that's why I'm asking. How do you like your A4?

Thanks Ferrariyellow44, I haven't seen the new A5 in Queens yet. But eventually it will be all over the place. It might be just me but I think the C coupe looks like a Honda Accord coupe with a Benz logo.

I guess they're both equally great cars? Maybe I should just buy the one I'm getting a bigger discount off of MSRP. Anyone who regrets getting an A4/A5?

The A/S5 is sex on wheels. I however am married with children and 4 doors.

I had a B8 A4 but passed that on to my mom and got an A5. The A4 was great, but I love the A5 more.

If you don't need the 4 doors go with the A5. Who cares if there's many of them on the road, it has to be a car YOU like.

I doubt the A5 handles better, but it definitely looks better, it's the sexiest current Audi IMO. The interior is a little nicer too. Make sure you get the S-Line package.

Well then I guess I have to get a good deal on the 2013 A5. Another problem is that it's hard to find M/T in NYC. Therefore harder to bargain?

For anyone still reading this, the MSRP on 2014 A4 and A5 only differ by only $1800, when comparably equipped. The A5 comes STANDARD with Quattro, manual tranny, dual climate control, 3 Spoke sports steering wheel. All of which are pay-more options on the A4. Add Xenon lights and heated seats to a base A5, and you're at exactly $40k USD.

This net you all of the above, plus that sexy coupe body style (in which a cramped rear seat, and less driver head-room is also standard).

As for the A4, adding dual climate, heated seats, xenon lights and manual tranny+Quattro puts you at $38,200. Still want that sports steering wheel? That comes with the sports pkg at anoter $1000 (granted you also get the sport seats/suspension). Now you're at $39,200. This means that for some buyers the difference between an A4 and A5 can be as little as $15 per month.

Not a bad premium, for a more premium-looking car.

Get an A5 S-line. It was the car I originally wanted. My wife and I were planning on having a family, so I went with an A4. Plus I am not the kind of guy to switch a car every few years, so I didn't want to have to switch after the family started growing. Good luck with your purchase! Can't wait to see what you end up with!

+1 on the a5 with the s-line package, although it all depends on how much you're willing to spend and what kind of deal you can get. If you were to buy brand new, the s-line package for the a5 is an extra 4,300 putting you around 46,500 which is basically s4 territory, just food for thought.
