Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
A rock must of popped up and cracked my left headlight lens (cover).

-Can I replace just the clear cover or is it a single headlamp assembly?
-Any suggestions on where I can purchase this part direct?

    Thanks.

You cannot purchase the lens separately. However, the xenon housings share the same lens as the halogen housings. If you find a cheap halogen housing on ebay, you can swap the lens over to your housing...

Is it really that simple or do you have to use heat to break the seal?

You must heat up the sealant to replace the lens a total of two times. Once for removal and replacement of the damaged lens, and twice to seal the new lens back up to the housing.

It is not hard to do. I just took mine apart and painted the inside of my lights black. I just used a hair dryer and I got them apart without any trouble and they went back together fine also.

You can use the oven as well, keep it below 200 F and no longer than 8 minutes, she'll be easy to work with. I did the same when sealing it back up. Squished them back together lightly, reheated then applied some good downforce on the lense on top of a towel on my table to ensure it sealed back tight. I've done this a dozen times with different vehicles. You can reuse the sealant without having to add anything to it.

Edit: just make sure you don't let the lense touch the walls of the oven or any elements, I placed mine on top of a cookie sheet as well.
