    Audi concert III

So i have the Audi concert III, no mmi or ami.
is there any original ipod adapter there so i can use the car's controls to change tracks. or do i have to have the ami, mmi system.
i've searched my nuts of, but im not getting any hits of either google or anywhere else when it comes to the 3'rd gen.
The car already has a AUX under the arm rest if that helps with anything, but no ipod connector anywhere.

I've also looked into the xcarlink system but it didn't look like the system showed tracks in display properly and i won't be able to use anything else then the volume control on it.

any other suggestions when it comes to aftermarket ipod/iphone connectivity for the b8's?

You are looking for AMI (Audi Music Interface). It is an option that adds the iPod connector in the glove box. Cars without AMI have the Aux-In jack in the center console.
AMI allows you to interface your iPod with the radio. You can navigate menus, etc, all though the radio.

and you can connect the AMI interface to the concert III ?

    edit :

just came over this link http://www.audienthusiasts.com/Downl...ment_Guide.pdf

has specs over all radios Audi has in their cars. and it says the concert 3gen does not have ipod support. why in he **** would the latest generation player not have that ? i find this very confusing.
my player even has a media button on it. the one in the .pdf does not.

next Audi is gonna be ordered from factory that's for sure. i've never been more frustrated over a car -_-

I know what you're saying dude. I though my ride has options like heated seats and other options. But its cool I like my car as it is. Comfortable ride.

before this thread gets out of control, you can buy the ami kit, theres several on ebay , if you dont you can always plug in your ipod to the arm rest aux input, or just get a memory card and stick it in the radio with your music they are so cheap now.

i use the AUX input now. and the SD card slot does not support more then 2 GB. not being able to control the ipod from the in car system drives me nuts. that's why i want the upgrade.

and im prettu sure i need a mmi 2g/3g unit to add the AMI in the first place. and that's starting to cost.

I don't have 2G/3G MMI and my car has AMI...

Although, I'm not sure if I have the concert or chorus system...

Not sure why your system cant support SD cards more than 2GB. I currently have a 8GB SD in my car and dont have 2G/3G either. I use that more than the AMI.

i can make it work if i buy a vagcom and update the concert III. but my Audi dealer refuses to do it because they don't have the update in their system. so on a service it would be rolled back they say.
and also it does not support SDHC cards witch is standard today. so i have to use a old 2GB card.

really unlucky with the buy regarding the Stereo. but the car in general is just great. loving the rest of it :P

It's all working now. I did vagcom the code but was still having problems. Then I disconnected the kit and reconnected it. Now everything works fine & I'm very happy with it. I bought it mainly for the Bluetooth handsfree but the AMI feature works just as well & I can control my iPhone using the dashboard controls. It also charges my phone which is handy

Hope you don't mind me bumping this thread up. I just bought a 2012 A4 with what appears to be the Concert III system and no AMI in the glovebox. Is this something that can be added? Any links to how this would be done would be appreciated.
