Anyone change fog light bulbs on a 2013 yet?

Just wondering if it is any different from earlier models, what with the redesign of the front end.

Have yellows to go in as soon as the car is delivered.

I would just open up the fender lining and try reaching them that way.

    Thanks gents.

Picking the car up on Saturday. Wife doesn't know it's in, and going to surprise her when we get back from her birthday trip.

Let you all know if anything has changed with the MY '13 cars.

Well...my wife got the car Tuesday...were supposed to have had the car last Saturday...but a data link between the dealership and the state DMV went down last week...and they weren't able to deliver any cars until Monday the 2nd.

Spent all day yesterday (July 4th) adding "goodies" to it, including the yellow Hoen fog light bulbs. Should have been a quick deal with the bulbs...but was far from it.

Yes, the 2013 fog light bulbs are easily accessible from the wheel wells as in the past, but the Hoen yellow bulbs I purchased would not go in no matter what I tried. And I tried for the better (worse?) part of half an hour.

After drving myself nuts trying all sorts of things, I finally put the OEM & the Hoen bulb side by side, and noticed that one of the three tabs on the Hoen bulbs was about 1/8 of an inch wider than the OEM bulb, and that ended up being the reason the Hoen bulbs would not turn into the fog light housing. Took some small metal snips, removed the necessary metal...and in they went. ARRGGHH!! This did not amuse me one bit, considering it was about 90 degrees yesterday.

I have been using aftermarket bulbs in cars since the late 1960s, and this is the first time I have ever had an issue like this. Not sure if this is due to some change in the fog light assemblies in the 2013 A4s, as they are quite different from previous years, but folks with 2013 A/S4s may want to be on the lookout for this when changing bulbs.

The install of the Valentine One wiring went smoothly, as always. Installing some Compact Air Horns on the RHS behind the fog light assembly was only mildly tortureous, and the few other small bits were also easy.

The car was supposed to have been delivered with the Audi Rear Deck Spoiler & Side Sills painted & installed, as well as the chrome exhaust tips, but they all were delayed in shipping from Audi, so we hope to have everything in, painted, and installed by the middle of next week. Will post pics when the car is done.

The car is basically a 4-door version of my A5, and it does drive just like it. We took an hour ride with it Tuesday evening, on some very narrow & twisty roads near where we live, and it was great. The 19" Hartman wheels & tires do make the difference. Just a shame that they no longer are available with the Sport Package. Bummer. But no matter, Achtuning were there to help...and all is right with the car.

Yea I would assume there would be some slight changes even with bulbs but no one would know that until trying. Glad to hear you got the car you wanted. Those 2013 are a bit pricey for me but I just got my 2012 about a month ago so I'm happy with that.

And there is a good reason why it didn't fit. You were trying to stick an H11 (55w) bulb into an H8 (35w) socket. Not such a bright idea especially if the wiring is not up for it.

I think the B8.5 refresh uses H8's for the fogs.

Correct. Sendmeone installed aftermarket fogs on his B8.5 S4. He said they went in smoothly, and it only took him 5 min...

"Not such a bright idea..." that wasn't intentional...was it?

Yes...the 2013s are H8s...but was told by a Tech at the dealership they were H11s...because there were no specs available anywhere in April, when we ordered the car...hence the reason I ordered the H11s in the first place. There is no problem with the slightly added wattage on the wiring. Not that much of a difference. Going double or triple wattage over the OEM may cause issues, however.

I've run 85/100 watt H4s in cars in the past, and never had any wiring issues either. Have had them in a pair 1990 SAAB 900 SPGs for the past 20 years.

seems to be the preferred choice. personally i like to run my yellow fogs with just the led DRL's running during rainy weather/snow. the offset of the yellow and blue led's looks spectacular and unique

I purchased a pair of Hoen yellow fog and been sitting here for last 2-3 months. Next month when the weather gets warmer, I am sure to put them in. Yellow is the best color in bad weather, fog, rain & snow. Up in the mountain roads, you'll see all light poles are fit with yellow color bulbs.

Yes the 2013's now use an H8 35 Watt bulb in the fog lights. The H11 will also work but slight mod to the mount will need to be done.

    Hope this helps

The install could not have been easier.... Go in through the wheel well. I followed davidb8s method on audienthusiast.com. It took me all of 15 minutes, and that's because I did it at night lol!
