ive heard of people doing 255/40/18 and 245/35/19

I think most ppl run 255s if they have an Rs4 conversion. Most common is 225 with a 8". Then if you want to go wide get 235-245. Even if 255 would fit without Rs4 fenders it would be too wide for an 8 inch wheel. I wouldn't go over 235s on an 8". I'm running 8.5"s with 235s and it is a hair away from the upright on the inside and its about even with the fender lip on the outside.

235's are possible depending on the tire....225 recommended

It is not an absolute but here is the physical conversion:

245 = 9.6"

235 = 9.25"

225 = 8.85"

2.5 = 8"

I have staggered 9" rims with 245's.....no rubs on a 24 3/4" drop. My fenders are seriously rolled and the front fender well is significantly cut out. To run 255's you need upper CPP links but, it can be done with the right offset. The key is in the rim offset and the tires.............some tires run wider than others...............

Yeah I don't think anyone runs 225s on 19s. The two closest to stock diameters are 225/40/18 and 235/35/19.
