Trusted repair shops in downtown Chicago

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

I am looking for shops in the downtown area (Wrigleyville/Lakeview preferably) where I can bring my car in to get my rotors and pads replaced. I am just looking to see if any of you know any reliable shops in the city. I know about CPT, GRD, Athans Motors, and Autowerks but they are all in the burbs and it isn't easy getting out there as I live and work in the city.

Any familiarity with www.eurousautobody.com at 4080 N Broadway? Any feedback would be helpful.

    Thanks,

    Tyler

try midwest performance cars on lake & ogden. they specialize (service & sell) porsches, but take in all euros and exotics. i can't vouch for their prices, but their shop and location (especially for us cityfolk) are pretty impressive.

Thanks for the input. After some more searching I found Midwest Performance Cars and VFC Engineering. Both look like quality shops and have a good reputation. VFC Engineering labor/hr is $107 and Midwest Performance Cars is $88. I decided to go with Midwest Performance thus time around.

These are probably going to be the two shops I will be using in the city from now on. I'll let everyone know how things go after tomorrow.

I'm curious as to how many hours they will charge to do your job. I would say it can definitely be done in a hour if you're cruising.

^ i think that's where they get you...the quotes i got from them for various jobs definitely weren't lower than the suburban shops...that's why i said i can't vouch for their prices (all i've had done from them was an oil change). they might be reeling you in with a low labor rate, but then charge you an hour longer than any other shop.

get a quote for the full job first...then make your decision.

On the other hand you don't really need a Euro specialist to do brakes. An acquaintance of mine and fellow S4 owner takes his car here and swears by the place. Never tried it myself, though

You dont need to be a euro specialist to work on a euro car period. They are all the same.

Midwest Performance Cars did a great job and I would recommend them to anyone in the downtown area. They were very communicative the whole time and the pricing was good 4 hrs at $88 an hr.

What was the total price with parts for the front brakes, if you don't mind stating it here?

Well I bought all 4 together. $450 adam's rotors, $200 for Stoptech 309 Street Performance pads and $352 for the install.

Autowerks is really close to downtown.

Brakes are easy. Do it yourself.
