Help with painting plastic parts high gloss black

I'm new to the forum and was wondering if I could get some tips/help on painting plastic auto parts high gloss black? I was going to take a shot at painting a chin spoiler high gloss black. I have some experience painting as I do a lot of painting and finishing of furniture but I've never painted an Automotive plastic part before. I have an HLVP set up which I plan on using to do the painting. Any recommendations on brand and type of base coat paint? Clear Coat? Any experience with Single Stage Paint? Seems to me after trolling some of the threads a lot of members do their own painting. Any help would be appreciated

Vinyl is your friend... Way better than painting.

    this...
but maybe it depends on which pieces you're refinishing.

my door handles are getting pretty beat... and vinyl might be a PITA to get on there.

I would have to agree, and least for small exterior work like this. I've done a fair amount of painting interior pieces in the past, and gotten quite good at it.
Considering what it takes to make an interior piece's finish last vs. exterior, especially on the front end of a vehicle, go with vinyl. Far easier to fix if you mess up.
I leave exterior paint to the professionals.

you can always try out plastidip, dipyourcar.com if you're not familiar with it. just check out the video and stuff, you can do a gloss black and then peel it off if you don't like it.

best option would probably be vinyl wrapping as it will come out the smoothest with professional application, and also can always be removed/re-done, etc. as well.

Thanks for the tips. I decided to go with plastidip. Seems like a cool product which provides some level of protection and is reversible. Gonna go with black with a glossifier. I'll put up pics when done

OP mentions "chin spoiler" - assume is an exterior part.
If he's seeking a permanent finish that will hold up over time, paint/clear coat only way to go IMO.
Never gonna put no vinyl/plastidip on my exterior.
    Just saying
