they are suppose to be similar, the A5 is the 2 door version of the A4... ofcourse they are going to look alike... just like the 3 series coupe and sedan look the same, and the MB C coupe and sedan...

The pre facelight versions look considerably different to one another - and my point at hand. I realize what you have pointed out

I just can't get over how awful those fog lights look! And i enjoy the fact that my A5 can be picked out as an A5 from distance without having to be beside it or behind it.

I think this is also why Audi dropped the price of $1400-1600 on the new S5. The car is going to be even more similar to the S4 and they're competing with the 335i coupe after-all.

I wish they made a similar price drop in the A5 as well. O well, easier decision for me to go with a '13 S5 over a '13 A5.

audi lowered the price due to the lower cost of the V6 engine since it is used in multiple models.

GD: I mean't that in my comment as well. Similar engine wise too* Of course a V6 engine is going to be cheaper than a V8 (cost wise).

Hopefully I'll be able to buy the '13 Summer 2013. =D

I saw the new A4 and A6 side by side (both black) and I thought they were the same car. The new white S5 was also parked nearby and I can say that the A4, A5, S5, A6 all look about the same at first glance. The headlights on the A4 has a more straight downward slant, while the A6 and S5 headlights bend at an angle towards the outer side. However, the headlight of the A6 is bigger than the A4 and S5.

At any rate, when the A4, S4, A5, S5, & A6 are running on the street, you probably won't be able to tell which is which.
To me, this is a bummer if you are spending $70K for an S5. If you are driving a $38K A4, it's great since it looks like you're driving an S5 or A6.

The best new face design is still the Allroad - although you see similarities, it sets itself apart from the rest of the 'same face' audis.

I will certainly concede that there are many similarities btwn the a4/s4 & a5/s5 looks-wise. However, I really need to question the pics from the OP -- why did he favor the 4 to the 5? In each pic from the OP, the 4 is either by itself or is in the foreground while the 5 is in the background. If you wanted to do a true up comparison, why not position them side by side? You already went to all of the trouble of finding a 4 and a 5 in the exact same color, so why not round out the comparison properly?

That all being said, I can still see distinctions between the 4 and the 5. Full disclosure though, I'm currently waiting on delivery for my '13 S5 =).

Also, I dunno where you're getting that an S5 coupe costs ~70K, that's just silly; even if you go prestige and pimp it out.

Finally, I'll take the SC V6 over the V8 any day.

I agree. I've seen an All Road in the flesh and in my opinion, the refresh looks by far the best on it.

The pictures are from an A4 member, he had put the S4 grill on his car, and the S5 also has an S4 grill on it - thus the way the pictures were taken

    Nice pics.....

The A5 is not a S5, just an A5 with a S5 grill. The S4 and S5 grille's are almost the same, just the installation is a bit different. The A4 and A5 are at the front an inside the same. The rear is different, the A4 1.8TFSI has 2 exaust tips, right and left, the A5 1.8TFSI has a dual exhaust on the left. The A4 is mine and the A5 is from the guy that supplied the grille. And there is no hidden agenda whit the pics....... I like the A5 a little bit more than the A4 but with children and a lot of stuff...... It's a no brainer. The prices are almost the same in the Netherlands.

I apologize for my poor english.

Once again I can't remember where I read it, but some Audi bigwig was saying how in the future they will strive to have a much more distinctive look from model to model. He acknowledged the similarities across the board.

The A7 and A8 look very different, as does the R8, and A6, and All road.

If you think about it, the only "new" models are the A1,A6, A7, A8, and all-road which actually look fairly dissimilar. The A4 and A5 families have all been refreshed to the new design language, but arent new, I think this is why they look similiar. They are supposed to mimic the current language without audi having to do too much work.

They were so succesful blasting the A7 beauty out of the park, I'll bet that's thier new design ethos. Good looking sedans, Fantastic looking coupes.

missing the point entirely. A BMW 3 series coupe has an Identical front end to a 4 door.

The 5 has been pretty different from the 4 in the past, and now it's not so different, but still different.
