monsoon gray s4 owners: wheel color?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
can't decide between smoked silver or high gloss silver. smoked silver looks nice, but i can see it making everything on the car a little *TOO* gray. wondering if any of you guys had pictures of a monsoon gray with either set. I'm looking at Hartmann HRS4-252 or VMR 708s, basically the RS4 pattern

I kept going back and forth between the colors you listed above and then just decided to say screw it and went with matte black and couldnt be happier with it against monsoon. Here are some pics for reference.

Somewhere in the wheel gallery thread there are some pics of Monsoon Gray with Hyper Silver VM V710s. IMO the nicest look I've seen.

Same poics by auditd0rk that sold me on the HR-252's for my S4, but I went with the SS. They almost look polished dependinhg on light and hide the brake dust better IMO. They start to look like TI wheels instead of just plain dirty LOL. Can't go wrong either way, great classic look onthe S4.

where do you guys order them from? can't seem to find them locally, achtuning + shipping brings it up to like 1.2k, significantly higher than the VMRs

Got mine from Achtuning with 10% discount for repeat customer. Ended up only slightly more than VMR that charged additional to bore hub. I liked that the Hartmans came with correct bore.

I got mine from Achtuning. I've been pleased with the quality and strength of the Hartmanns (lots of crappy roads here in CO), but have also read good things about the VMRs - another guy here in town is rocking the VMR RS4 reps and seems happy with them.

wait, you have to make changes to the VMRs?

    http://www.supremepowerparts.com/136..._category.html

i'm looking at the 18"x8.5 ET45, i thought i could just slap them on in place of my stock 18s

Has anyone put the Hartmans and VMRs side by side? When I look at the various pics online, sometimes it looks like the Hartmans have slightly thicker spokes, which I like. Or are they identical and I'm just seeing things?

They come in 66.6, which is correct for the B8.

Some places charge a little more for the 66.6 centerbore. Pyspeed does that I think. I don't know if it is VMR policy or what. Either way they're still significantly cheaper than the Hartmans.

Correct it was Pyspeed and they only stocked 57.1mm bore and charged to go to 66.6, everyone else was out of stock waiting on shipments at the time and Hartman had them in Transit. I also though the VMR's had slightly narrower spokes but slightly more concave. So hard to tell form Pic's and Hartman only option for Shadow Silver. Both Hartman and VMR have a good following of satisfied customers so the faster turn around (at the time) and 10% discount sealed the deal for me.

Apologies for bringing this thread back up..my first post actually and wanted to make sure I searched extensively to avoid making everyone angry. Anyway, what did you go with? I'm on the fence about blacking out window trim, installing black grill and going for black wheels...or keeping the aluminum/satin silver theme going.

get silver and keep you trims silver. they match the mirror housing too. silver wheels just look clean and fresh. black wheels look very undefined and make the whole car look dirty IMO. and there is just something about monsoon that makes it work really well with the silver theme. some say the clean and fresh look is gay, but you would never get tired of it. But do whatever you want its your car. make it to your liking is the most important concept i believe.

This looks perfect, but I'd need to have all those other matching parts to go with the wheels. Such as the rear diffuser, window trim, and black badges. Pricey overhaul...and I don't think I could do it gradually while knowing the colors sort of clash until it's all done.

the rings on this grille is more recessed than the rest. all the grille i've seen have the rings sticking out like crazy. if i do end up getting one ill probably go with the gunmetal option they have which looks pretty oem.

I wish I found this thread when I was shopping for wheels. I went with Brushed Grigio and really like it. its lighter in the sun, darker in the shade. Since this picture I have blacked out the chrome trim with plastidip.
