    How is White so popular?

    Hi Guys,

I'm curious to know why white is so popular with these cars. Don't get me wrong, the car looks pretty good in that colour but most people used to associate white as a 'chick' colour.

LOL! Thats just dumb, this is what I got when I googled it,

    White

There are many white cars on the road. What they say about their owners has a lot to do with their upkeep. A clean white car shows that you pay attention to detail. You are careful and pure. A dirty white car makes you look sloppy and indifferent.

White has been popular for a good decade now amongst performance enthusiasts. It's sharp, looks great in the sun, and looks better with black grills and other accents that are preferred over the stock chrome look these days.

Me personally, I prefer the chrome accents (except for the interior surround that looks pretty cheap, which I want to replace with a carbon one if I can find it), which is why I am going with estoril blue.

Safety a big reason, the best day/night visibility color.

The widespread use of antidepressants may have also
    contributed:)

I dunno - White is the new Black? (Car color). I like the contrast between the white and dark accents (wheels, headlamps, grille, etc.)

I've been pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to keep the Ibis clean. Yes, it shows road debris, dirt, and bugs, easier than other colors, but a quick rinse and wipe down and its back to looking like new. Plus, no streaking, paint swirls, water spots, etc.

I was at the dealership getting by oil changed one day last year and there was a gorgeous Ibis S4 with the Titanium package on the showroom floor and this couple in their 50's who looked like they were extras out of Dirty Dancing strolled by looking at it and I overheard the woman say, "Why would anyone drive a white car...It's so....California" I had to bite my tongue to keep from laughing while I stared out the window. It's not like it was a '93 LeBaron Convertible rolling down Rodeo Drive or something. It's a high performance German Sedan. Oh, and its 2011 (at the time) by the way...I love how people get stuck in an era and never emerge. Sorry - end of ghey story...just reminded me.

I usually don't like white cars and have never owned one. However, ibis white and glacier white are the best colors for Audis.

Dont be so harsh on yourself.

I like bright colors so that is why I ordered mine in red. Would have done Sepang blue but didnt want to pay extra at the time.

White is such a neutral colour, it appeals to many people.

Not my thing but I appreciate that it looks nice, especially with ti-package.

Colors, ie Blue/Red/Yellow/Green/Orange/ect, statistically are not very popular. They combine for about only 28% of all new cars. A lot of people don't like Black (18%) because its dark, hard to clean, ect. A lot of people are tired of Silver (19%) because silver cars are everywhere since it was most popular for alomst a decade. Gray (15%) is sortof the black/silver compromise and has gained a lot of popularity, but its still pretty drab and boring.

White (20%) is the new front runner. IMO mostly because Silver is played. White is the new Silver. It's clean, nuetral, and goes well with any interior. It also shows body lines really well.

In a few years (after Silver and White have dominated the market for 15 years) I predict a resurgence of popularity in darker colored cars.

Ibis White just looks amazing on the b8. I had Brilliant Red 3.2 A3 before that and thought I would never ever buy a white car! 5 mins after I found a post of the (then) new S4 in ibis I was like ... I said what!?

My last vehicle was black (g35 coupe) and the upkeep was so hard to maintain. I originally wanted Monsoon/Quartz Gray, but Ibis has grown on me quite a bit.

I think it's mostly a case of this car looking great in white (as do most of Audis designs these days). It's not my first choice since it doesn't take a lot of work to keep clean....LOL. I've always gone for high maintenance black. I wouldn't call it "chicky" but I know what you mean.

White manages to look sporty and neutral at the same time, plus unlike dark colors (black especially), it's very easy to maintain, hides swirl marks and dust, stays cooler in the sun. My second choice would be silver.

I think the S4 looks amazing in Black. It is harder to keep swirls away. I have a white car at home also which always looks clean to me. Each person has their own preference. Somehow I would not pick white as a color for the car.

I had silver for the previous 4.5 years & Santorian blue before that. Silver is very easy to keep looking clean, but was tired of silver. In 2011 there were not many interesting standard colors to choose from.

I love black, but it is too hard to maintain looking good. It is my favorite color, but Black does look good with chrome accents.

The Imola Yellow, Sprint blue and the Brilliant red (arrest me red) are too bright & stand out too much.

The Meteor gray changes to some brownish tones in some street lights at night.

Deep sea blue is too close to black.

The Ibis white looks very nice & modern with black accents. The Ibis color is low maintenance & looks good on the B8 body lines.

If they had Dolphin grey or Estrol blue or Jet blue for standard colors, when I bought my car, I might have been tempted to have a color other than white.

So it comes down to what are the available choices & a process of elimination, that pushed me to Ibis.

That article is totally accurate. White is the fastest color. Us guys in white cars have been saying this all along. LOL

I actually don't like white cars but the S4 just seems right in white. It shows the lines of this car more so than other colors imo.

I really wanted white because it's a lot easyer to take care of. It doesn't show all the dust and dirt like the darker colors do. However I must say there is nothing better that a clean black car!

Not to spark an argument, but how is white boring and black exciting? It's black that is more formal and elegant, therefore found on vehicles such as executive cars, hearses and limos. Either way, color is a very subjective aspect, but generally, black looks good on bigger sedans or SUVs.

I agree with most of that but black is ALWAYS f#cked up. Swirls and fine scratches show up as soon as sun/dust hits it.
