So yesterday I installed vogtlang coilovers on my B7 S4. First off I must say having done quite a few suspension installs on various vehicles the S4 was quite easy IMO.

Some things to note for the rear all you have to do is remove the two upper 13mm bolts on the shock and then the lower big shock bolt I used a 13/16th on this fit tighter then the mm equivlent.

Then lower or remove the 2 subframe bolts and with a pry bar nudge out the spring it's really simple just make sure you do one side at a time.

I had people tell me to remove the headlight sensor on the driver side but I saw no need to do that as the whole assem moves with the sub frame I was also told to remove the rear lower control arm bolt this is also not needed.

For the vogtland coilovers it's also help for adjusting the rear's to trim off some off the inner fender well lining I have a picture of this posted below I just used straight cut tin snips but you could probably just use some good scissors.

Now on the front all you do is unbolt coolant resvoir on the driver side and remove the whole plastic cover assem over the battery and brake resvoir this all done to gain access to the six upper strut bolts 3 per side.

Unbolt these then unbolt your pinch bolt for the upper control arms

And then unbolt your sway bar from both side then pull the mofo out.

I was told to unbolt the steering intially but this is not needed.

Here are just some random pictures I took during and after the install note the picture that shows the trimmed fender well to ease in adjusting the rear vogtland coilovers I basically trimmed it so it a little above the perch.

Great synopsis. Avant looks great! You dumped it. But yeah, throw some spacers on there if you're gonna run stockers. ^ I agree, rides far better than stock. I tried and tried, and couldn't get the rear subframe undone. So my rear springs were a pain in the ass. But def worth it in the end. I love em. Enjoy the ride.

Yeah so far I love how they ride feels very close to stock IMO. OEM wheels will not be on long im going to run 19x9.5 et33 wheels with 245 tires all the way around. This will require a pull and roll.

Not to go off topic but at one point i was in the position of whether i wanted another car or go for a bike, and then nightrod was my bike of choice (or a very nice vrod) and eventually i felt i needed a four door car and it wouldnt be practical to have 2 toys right now. luckily i found the S4 and i ended up with 2 toys anyway lol....enjoy the bike bro they def are fun.

Very nice. I went with Vogtland springs/Billies and couldn't be happier. Read nothing but good about their coils.

    hey guys,

i know im digging out an old thread but im in the market for coilovers and came across vogtlands... i have b6 s4 and want to go lower but not really too stiff since its my daily driver plus i dont do any track days. ive been looking for spring rates on those vogtlands but cant find exact info, messaged achtuning and they said those arent made for s4, they are underdamped for that big engine. its weird tho since jhm is selling it as a s4 kit. so my question is directed to the guys who actually have those kits on their cars, did you experience any underdampering? hows the ride and how low you can go?

    thanks for any input,

    luke

I have the gt kit from achtuning. Yes they are soft, but not that bad. Im 25" GTF with plenty of room to go lower. My car is my dd and I drive a lot if freeway miles so I wanted something on the comfy side. These fit the bill, but in all honesty, I would go with h&rs if I were to do it again.

Is the car bouncy? I spoke with st guys at waterfest and they said st kit will be fine for daily driver. Def too soft for track. Im stuck in between st/vgt and hr's. Deff hr's would be better but id like to save those 400 and use it on something else. How many miles you have on your vgt suspension now?

I have between 10-15k on them. I wouldn't say they're bouncy..just soft. I had the same mentality as you when I bought them, and while I'm not unhappy with them, I would go a different route if I were to do it again.

No problem. If you do decide to get it, just make sure you order them from Achtuning and get the GT kit (extra $100 for stiffer springs(I think just the rear)). I couldnt imagine how soft they would be without it.
