So I ordered a carbon kit for my B7 S4 avant. Prior to ordering I contacted Matt to find out what the lead time was. He said it would take 3-4 weeks. This was the first week in April. Excited, I immediately put in my order. Several days later I contacted Matt to make sure he received my order, which he said he did and would get started the following day. The next day I got a private message on another forum from a guy that had ordered a piece for his B8 S4, was promised 4 weeks but received his part 6 months later. Somewhat upset I figured every deal was different so it didn't bother me too much. Anyways, its been close to 7 weeks and nothing. I requested a tracking number (as per their website) however was told the system was down so he couldn't supply a number. He keeps saying he "thinks" my pieces just came out from baking and just needs to be sanded and cleared however is unable to to give me a date. I hate to vent however I really don't want to wait 6 months for something that I anticipated would take 4 weeks. Having said that, the guy who waited the 6 months said the parts were beautiful and perfect!

Sorry for the long rant however curious if anyone else has had this issue?

Ive heard many things about ocarbon, all being nothing but good. Doesn't sound like typical reviews. I've been looking into it more and more lately but I hope this extremely long wait time isn't a standard thing...

Thats the thing. I read nothing but positive reviews. Maybe he is so busy that he cannot meet the demand! Hopefully I get it soon!

    Hey Derek,

Your set is almost done. It won't take 6 months.

We have had some major quality control issues here lately that we've been working through, so some orders have been delayed. Our clearcoat specialist who was a few shops down moved to Florida and it took us some time to find a suitable replacement. On top of that, we had a fisheye issues that were giving us some trouble and took a bit to get worked out as well.

That being said, I'm not here to make excuses. I HATE it when it takes us longer than advertised to get parts out (I hate having unhappy customers) so I do apologize to anyone that has had to wait longer than they anticipated. If anyone is getting antsy or uncomfortable, all they've got to do is shoot me an email and I'll refund them no questions asked.

The one thing I won't do is send out parts that I wouldn't personally install in my car, so sometimes that means a bit of extra work and time on our end to make sure everything looks fantastic (it's 10pm Arizona time right now, and both myself and employee are still working on parts to try and get them finished up).

If anyone needs to get ahold of me, feel free to email me direct at [email protected] or call the shop at 623.239.1500 (leave a voicemail) and I'll get you sorted.

Few pictures of some of the issues we were dealing with:

    Rant is fair.

OCarbon should have been "proactive" and contacted all customers that have processed / possibly delayed orders, and communicated this information in advance, which would have eliminated the need to be "reactive" once something was posted publicly by an affected customer.

Given that, when I have contacted them, they have been quick to respond, they do make the best CF trim and their work is amazing. It will be worth the wait.

Considering it is apparently such awesome stuff, I doubt anyone wants to sell a B6 set. However, if anyone is looking to part out a car they are selling and wants to get rid of their oCarbon B6 S4 trim set...I'm interested

What I'm looking to avoid is the whole core deposit and 4+ week lead time for the most part, in addition to getting a set for less than full price. I want this trim set real bad but can't really afford the cost of it brand new.

Matt, if you can work a deal of some sort with a slightly imperfect set of carbon trim, I'd be interested to hear if you had anything in mind. I don't need it to be perfect. Especially if it is messed up in an area that isn't very noticeable or front and center, etc. Anything to reduce the costs because I want this product but can't afford it!!

Saw some of this stuff in person at SoWö. It was dark out, but it was still amazing. Makes me consider finding a woodgrain set somewhere so I can swap out my OEM CF.

I'm swapping out my OEM CF trim for my oCarbon trim myself. I like the oCarbon way better. Just waiting for oCarbon to make me a new shifter plate since my oCarbon trim was originally for an Auto and I now have a 6MT :)

Hey Matt I'll take the "bad" parts.
Your bad ones are still better than my stock trim.
Are you going to sell them?

I agree. People have every right to be upset when things take longer than expected. I've tried to stay on top of keeping everyone up to date, but it has been difficult while we try and work out these issues, as getting them sorted has taken up most of my time. So I can take responsibility for that.

We generally don't sell imperfect sets, we'd sand them down and do them again until they were right.

Be patient, they will come. I was among the first group to order a batch and was told 4-6. It ended up being a few months and im sure i annoyed the hell out of matt. However lits well worth the wait. I got the red set for a B7 A4 and i love it. Like he said he wont send anything out he wouldnt put in his own car. I think one piece was re done 4 times. Keep in mind to redo a piece is not a few days of work. Its almost a week. Now times that by 4, it sucked waiting but again its worth it. Get compliments all the time. Keep up the good work Matt.

My 6 month deal is still going on lol.

I've now been waiting for over 6 weeks for my money back, but the check is "lost in the mail"...hey but what ever is "easiest for the accountant"

Glad to hear it was worth it. Every now and then we have to redo parts, it is just the nature of the business because there are so many variables. I'd much rather have people be pissed at me because the parts are late than the quality not being satisfactory. Hearing words like this from customers is makes it totally worth it.

*Shrug* - it is what it is. Keeping track of cores and core deposits, who has shipped their cores back, who hasn't, can be very difficult. A lot of times we get boxes back with no indication of who they are from (return address is The UPS Store or something similar in a major city). I'm a VERY small operation (myself and two part time employees). My accountant is 1500 miles away in St. Louis, so making sure her and I are on the same page on who gets core refunds and who doesn't, can sometimes be difficult. We used to do it via Paypal, but unfortunately Paypal refunds show up on my bank statements just as paid to Paypal and not to the individuals it was sent to. Doing core deposit refunds via checks ensures that she can see who has been paid out and who hasn't.

You indicated to me on the 14th you hadn't received your core deposit back and I issued a new check the same day, which I'm sure you'll see from the post mark when it arrives.

Sounds good ... Except I don't want to be without trim in my car for x amount of weeks/months. If I do this, I'll buy a set of wood trim, and send that to Matt. Saves me headaches and mood swings.

Matt's attention to detail/service is top notch. We have even exchanged emails at 1am and his responses are immediate.

I haven't heard of one customer that didn't love his work. We all go through some hiccups at times, I am sure those who need to wait a little will be happy once they receive the item.

He has been holding on to a few of my items for months now, waiting for me to send a few others. No problems with trust and he checks in with me from time to time.. I just need to make the time to remove/ship.

Yeah, i'd trade my OEM wood for OEM CF too. I have a B6 S4 and the wood is mint, not that it matters if you're going to tape it up. You could just pay the core charge if you don't want to wait, then send it afterwards and get it refunded.

Apologies for resurecting an old thread, but just wondered when you received your parts ginch?

Unfortunately I'm in a similar situation to the one you were in last year.
I was quoted 3-4 week turn around and paid in full on January 2nd (including core deposit for the belt line), posted off my exchange shifter and MMI parts which were received on 17th January, but 10 weeks later I'm still waiting.
The on-line tracker is still out of action I'm told, but I did get replies to my enquiries, but not the promised images.
At the start of the March Matt did reply to an email saying the parts were being prepped for shipment, but no tracking number etc to date and I've not had any further replies to my last few e-mails.

I too, think the parts look great and had read nothing but good reviews on here and other forums, until I found this thread. I'm all for a good finish and don't want to rush things along, but my excitement is turning to concern - should I be worried?

I'd be interested to hear how your situation was resolved ginch and anyone elses experience - hopefully parts were received to your satisfaction and were worth the wait.

    Many thanks,
    Ian

Apologies to Ian, as we were having a few delays with his RHD set of parts. I've emailed him and everything is sorted as his parts are on the way.

As always, if anyone has any questions or concerns, feel free to shoot me an email and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Well its all arrived and finally fitted and have to say I'm pleased with the result.

Matt had some issues with the door trims, so the MMI surround and centre console trim arrived some weeks ago, whilst the issues with the door trims were resolved.

As I say, I should have received the door pieces on the 16th of this month, but there were complications with the postal service and duty at my end - nothing to do with Matt.

Genuinely feel that this has been an isolated incident and once Matt contacted me after my initial post above he's moved things along and kept me updated.

They're not the best pictures I'm afraid - I'm better with a spanner and a mig than a camera, but I'll try and post them up here and let them do the talking as to the quality.

    Many thanks Matt.

You're not alone. I'm still waiting for the other half of my order. It's been a good 6 months...

    Many thanks,
    Ian

    OCarbon MyCarbon.

Results look great. Hell, if I had the money I wouldn't care about lead time to get a set of trim like that..
