    Proper brake bedding procedure?

I recently installed zimmerman cross drilled rotors and hawk pads up front. When it came time to do the brake bedding procedure I was rather confused as the Hawk pads stated:

After installing new pads make 6 to 10 stops from approximately 35 mph with moderate pressure. Make an additional two to three hard stops from approximately 40 to 45 mph. Do not allow the vehicle to come to a complete stop. When completed with this process, park the vehicle and allow the brakes to cool completely before driving on them again. Do not engage the parking brake until after this cooling process is compete.

Then while reading the zimmerman instructions it stated: Avoid hard braking for 300-500 km.

Usually they say avoid hard braking AFTER the bedding procedure for x number of miles/km.

I followed a procedure similar to the above for my BBK, with the exception of parking the car and allowing the brakes to cool completely before driving on them again. I repeated the above process a total of 3 times. Brakes seated well, no issues to date.

I see. It didn't state AFTER the bedding procedure so I was a bit confused. Thanks for clarifying.

my method (which may be different from others but has always worked for me)

4 cycles of 80mph with a hard stop 60mph then after those 4 cycles are done i do...

3 cycles of 80mph with a hard stop to 30mph then after that is done i drive for at least 30 minutes and do not touch the brake pedal once.

this is hard to do in a heavily traveled area, i am very lucky to live very close to a 2 mile long straight on ramp to a major highway so i can get most of the braking done by the time i enter the actual highway. I also do this at about 2 in the morning to make sure there is zero traffic

I've always followed the instructions the link below provides. Haven't ran into any issues either.

    I hope this helps!
