    2.0T multitronic jerking on acceleration

    Hi Guys

    Would appreciate some comments here:

Over the last few days, on acceleration under light load, at around 2500 - 3000rpms (car is multitronic btw) when in 'D' , the car would intermittently jjerk slightly (almost like a clutch slipping sensation) and then recover to normal. At first I though it may be something physical like wheels etc, but made sure all wheel nuts where tight for piece of mind.

Now since yesterday, whenever accelerating at the same rpms in D its constantly jerking, and one can see slight jerking movements on the rev counter. Went to Audi immediately and their diagnostic machine didnt pick any specific faults (car is with them today hopefully for resolution). Now the strange thing is that when in S or manual gears, you cannot feel the jerkiness (it may well be slight enough not to feel).

The tech says that it could be a blocked up fuel filter (he experienced this before he says), but I am also inclined to think that it may be gearbox related.

Has anyone had this before of has any thoughts in terms of what I could ask them to check?

    Thanks in advance....

I had the exact same issue with my Stronic tranny. Took it to Audi multiple times to have it checked because I was certain the transmission was acting funny. After much persistence and determination, they finally concurred that my transmission needed replacement.
Two days later, received a call stating a new tranny has been ordered.

I would be as persistent as possible with Audi in determining a fix. Something is definitely not right.
    Good luck!

Torque converter? Notice any difference between when you are first driving the car and after it has been driven for a while in the fluctuations in RPM? I'm experiencing the same thing on my B6 but with no codes. If in "D" and I give the car just enough gas for it to gear down, my RPMS will dip 200-300 and then pick back up. I'm assuming it's the torque converter and considering the cost of the repair and what I paid for the car I'm currently shopping for a new vehicle.

I may be wrong, but I don't think multitronic uses a torque converter...

Just got a call back from the tech, seems it was spark plugs (original with car on almost 68000kms). He's checking other mechanical possibilities but said his testing after the plugs was positive...

Well wonder of wonders...it was just the spark plugs it seems. The tech was ready to even change coils as well, but after replacing the spark plugs, issue was completely gone. Its actually so strange that the car drives so differently suddenly. Its pulling harder, and even the gear changes on S mode have smoothed out so much :o :o :o Amazed that just spark plugs could make that difference.

On my 2012 A4 Quattro, the sparkplugs are to be changed at 35k miles in scheduled maintenance.

What part of S Africa are you in? I used to visit Durban, East London, Port Elizabeth & Cape Town.
