Best sub/enclosure to go with MRP-M500 amp?

So i just sold my two 12" alpine type-e's in a box to save some room in my trunk (b6 a4), but still have my MRP-M500 amp. I am looking for a good sub(preferably 12")/ported-box combo. I'm not sure how big my box with dual twelves was in terms of height, but it would not fit through the trunk but fit perfectly snug with the roof of the trunk when placed in through the back seat, and installing again this way is not an issue. I would like for the price to be around the neighborhood of $200 total. Are there any options available for this setup? And sorry to be annoying but I'd prefer the sub to be an alpine as well, since I have an alpine amp and if they mismatched it would really bug the piss out of me

    Thanks guys,
    Matt

I would pick up either a new Alpine Type R 10" or 12" and just build the box to suit. I have an older Alpine amp (MRD-M605) running a 10" sealed Elemental Designs sub and it sounds awesome. I would imagine you can't go wrong with the new Type R, a lot of the reviews I have read are very positive.

thinking about picking up a new type r 10" sub (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-SWR-10D4.html) but should i go with the 2 ohm version or 4 ohm version with my amp? also, should i get a sealed or ported box (and any recommendations for pre-fabbed ones)? One more question (sorry), but how would i wire the sub to the connections on the box, as the subs each have 4 plugs and the boxes only have 2 going to the amp?

Depends, it looks like those are dual voice coil subs, go with the 2 ohm if you want to run your amp at the 4 ohm load, or go with the 4 ohm if you want to run your amp at a 2 ohm load. The sub will be louder at the 2ohm load on the amp, but the amp will get hotter. My sub is a dual 2 ohm, and running at a 4 ohm load is plenty loud enough for me with gains about 50%, this all depends on your preference though.

Sealed or ported is again up to you. I would build your own box though, cheaper and you can build it to the exact specs of the sub. Building a sealed box is a piece of cake, never built a ported one so I am not sure, but I imagine it's not that much harder.

Use this page to figure out how to wire your sub. Since you will only have 1 sub, you want to look at the 1st and 2nd pictures, depending which sub you buy.
