A4 and A6 side view mirrors

Will the drivers side mirror off an '01 A6 fit my '00 A4? Just the glass.

I tried using glass from my spare 98 A4 door to put onto my 03 A6 and it wouldnt fit. The shapes are different and was hitting in the corners.

if you need new glass, I highly highly recommend this ebay seller. I read about them on AZ a few years ago and it took me forever to look him up again but he has a bazillion types of glass for most cars. And you get the options of heated, tinted, blind spot, etc etc. I payed for both mirrors 50 bucks shipped

^ x2. my mirrors are from that seller. he also has a us ebay account. mine are blue tinted, heated, blind spot but the tint isn't really bluer than stock and the blind spot part barely looks different than the rest of the glass.. still would recommend though

not sure about the a4 and a6 mirrors. I would definitely think it wouldn't fit a prefacelift b5 but maybe a facelift..

It wouldn't fit, because you were trying to fit pre-facelift glass to a post-facelift mirror housing. Not because you were going from A4 to A6. Both are the same, pre-facelift A4 = pre-facelift A6. Post-facelift A4 = post-facelift A6. The respective glass carry the same part numbers.

^^^ this. Additionally, B5 Passat mirror glass interchanges with pre-facelift A4s and A6s.

'Preciate the help. I've been out of the Audi scene for the past couple of years and I couldn't remember if they were interchangeable or not. There is a junk A6 at the lot next to my work. Going to grab the glass tomorrow.

Thanks for clearing that up. I figured it was because of the 2 different body styles.

Well if it's the '01 a6 then according to this thread the glass isn't interchangeable.. I would take a picture of your a4 glass and compare them at the junk yard to see if they're obviously different

Just adding to this thread to hopefully help others...

I have a C6 A6 (2006) and the passenger side mirror glass has been super funky due to cracked housing and auto-dimming magical fluid leaking and doing crazy things. Anyhow, was searching for a while for replacement glass as it's uber expensive.

Had a set of auto-dimming R+L mirror glass parts from my B6 A4 and for kicks just went out and tried... they are different part #'s but are shaped identically, installed without issue with all connectors being the same etc.

YMMV.
