Coil overs or Rims first? AUDI A4 2007

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
OK, so i have just recently purchased a RED 2007 audi A4 2.0T
I turn 16 next month, & I am very novice when it comes to german cars & parts.
My question for you, is should i purchase brand new black rims or purchase coil overs, if i purchase
coil overs first i would plasti dip the stock rims... please share your answer.

i was in the same spot....here is what i am going with (which i think is logical if you are on a budget like mine, i am only 18 about to be 19)....get coilovers and spacers along with cupra lip....that way you will get a combo of some performance (handling) as well as a better more aggressive look for the car (cupra lip and spacers)!

    hope that helped :)

I think people underestimate how cheap you can get a used audi for.

Side note, I would get rims first, then coils, since you need to see what your car will look like before you lower it rather than getting coils, throwing the rims on, and having to readjust the coils. In no way is adjusting coils fun. Especially trying to dial it in perfectly at all fours...ugh

Even with a smokin hot deal, I didn't have $15,000 in my bank when I was 15 ;D Nor would I spend that on my 15 year old kid UNLESS I was loaded.
    anyways, getting off topic here.

    Long story short:
Coils + stock wheels = looks acceptable
Wheels + stock suspension = kill it with fire.

I was driving my moms plymouth voyager when I was 16. pimpin the van. other than that, its the Bus for me.

I vote ST coils too before wheels. plasti dip ur wheels black for a cheaper wheel route option. I did B5 perch plate on mine cause I don't want to go any lower. I rub already just my fat ass driving on speed bumps.

ST and vogtlands are probably the best for under 1000 if you are buying new. Theres a few on JOM's and they seam fine also check the classifieds if you dont mind buying used. Kw's and stasis/koni kits come up often for good prices.

    lol

OP if you want peopled to laugh at you get wheels, when I installed my 19 wheels on a stock suspension I almost cried, it looked worse than with the stock wheels, so do yourself a favor and get coils, it will look very nice.

This thread became more interesting, well the subtopic that is. We should make a new thread, "What do you drive when you were 15?"

Cheap coilovers is almost the same price as a spring/shock purchase. Let him get coils, he's young enough, he has the energy to burn to put the car up and down. Keep him busy on his car instead of something else. That case he'll learn that way, and adjust to whatever he likes. He is not like us old farts having back problems driving on stiff shocks and bouncy rides.

Besides only expensive coils are actually track worthy, cause they have dampening adjustments, not just height.

congrats on the audi, i have some rich parents too and it's pretty cool of them to get you a safe, nice looking car for your birthday. enjoy it, but please, consider an option of lowering it before you do wheels, springs, cup kit or coils.....just drop it before you get wheels you will find your car will look much better that way

COILS! i bought wheels first, huge mistake! they look shitty without being able to stance them properly and the way you want and now ive become to lazy to save up the 1200+ for coils.

While everyone else is going on about a 16 year old with an Audi, how is it that this was completely overlooked?

This is the dumbest thing I have read. Regardless of what wheels you run, coils are going to settle and possibly need adjusting (that's all up to the owner). And it takes 30 minutes to adjust all four corners once the coils are installed. The front is easy, the rear requires very little work.
