Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So me and my buddy were in Mexico the other day and I kept pulling always from his R so we got someone to drive his car and do a pull. This is the first Revo tuned Golf R and the tune is still in Beta testing. Car is really quick i can't wait to see it stage 2.

not a huge surprise IMO.....add 500lbs to the VW and try again :)

What gear/RPM/speed did you start the 'carrera'? Since the Audi engine has a spike of TRQ down in the range I'm wondering if it was utilized.

so.......... 270-280 hp max , 50 kg more than R more friction in quattro - proper Stage 1 for R gives around 300 hp less friction course it is FWD ( haldex ) and less waight which makes no match for Stage 2 A4.

Auditude's car has a lot of torque with stage 2....I bet if he had my wheels he would've pulled on the R

My buddy just had his Golf R tuned with a Unitronic Stage 1. My A4 has a Stasis tune, AWE FMIC, AWE dual exhaust, and Eurocode hoses (intake, intercooler hoses and sound box delete) and we did 3 runs to 100km/h on the weekend and I won all 3. Power seems to be very close though. I think my victories were because of my 8-speed auto transmission vs his manual transmission. Between gears seemed to be the only time I could get away from him.

Most newer cars with better transmissions in them like the DSG and such will almost always be faster than a manual car because it will change gears faster with your flappy paddles. Also, you can build boost between shifting, and have no human error for misshift or granny shifting.

I'd imagine your buddy had this look on his face.

What makes this more intriguing is the fact that our cars notoriously have crappy top end, so even if it has more torque, the golf R should have pulled at higher speeds due to the higher HP rating

Out of curiosity, what other cars does a B8 APR Stage II have a chance versus - A5 3.2, 350Z, G35, G37, Volvo C30, Merc E350, Cooper S, focus RS, evo, sti, boxter, boxter S, etc...???

I'm neck and neck with a stock S5, I've walked both a stock 350z and g35, I lost by a car to a bolt on g37 recently (before his hfcats and underdrive pulley I beat him), E350 I beat pretty bad, cooper S supercharged I raced off a roll and was dead even (he was tuned with a catback), evo x with catback I beat, stock STI slightly pulled on me (I think he was lying lol seemed tuned) and an 05 STI with exhaust I pulled 1 car off a 60 roll. I never raced any boxters. I lost by 2 cars to a 335i, I get walked 5-6 cars by Stock B8 S4s maybe even worse, I actually hold up well with B7 S4's under 80mph, I also beat a MK5 R32 and a GT28RS APR Stage 3 Jetta 1.8T

    Race much?!
A couple of things that stood out; neck and neck vs a stock S5 yet lost by 1 car to a G37 and 2 cars to 335.

Do you know what power your A4 is dishing out?

S5 had substantial carbon and I'm sure if we raced off a highway roll the V8 would pull. The 335i looked stock but you never know most of them are tuned- however if it was tuned it would prob beat me much worse.. My friends G37 is pretty worked, full exhaust, intake, under drive pulley etc...

Link to build thread please.... 240 to the wheels is awesome, I thought at most our cars with stage 2 would push out 270 at the crank.

i can back his claim on the S5 run.. it was a run with me. literally dead even from 5mph roll in 1st til ~80mph. this was before my FI exhaust and downpipes, but i'm sure the difference is negligible. i bet on the highway i'd pull away without issue though.

i have about 23k miles and the original owner granny'd it until 15k miles when i purchased it.. definitely has carbon buildup.

    his A4 is very torque-y!

I don't really have a build thread lol... This is my daily driver, my track car is a 93 S4. I don't really drive this car hard and have no intentions too since its not a race car lol. I always get some highway pulls in but I won't gun in first gear, will not launch it and will not powershift. I've learned that's the best way to keep the car going strong with all oem parts. I do oil changes every 2500 miles and always you Sunocco 93 gas.

These cars are a lot more capable then most would think. I have her up for sale now to perhaps buy a B8 S4 or if I keep it I'll go K04 but if APR doesn't come out with a more aggressive file I'll go Revo

lol, well it sounds like our run was fake then... it was from 1st! 2500 mi between oil changes?! overkill, sir.

+1, that's simply a waste of time and money. The oil barely has a chance to make its way through the engine in 2500 miles!

Hey buddy, are u talking about F30 335i (latest generation)? I'm on Revo Stage2 with testpipe installed... I wonder if it worth to drag race with stock F30 335 xdrive? what do u think?
