this check valve ticking when engine is warmed up

I think it's a check valve, but no idea.

Does anyone have a PN or tell me what this does?

Makes a loud ticking only when the car is warmed up. Does the sound mean the valve is shot, or is it a problem elsewhere?

    TIA.

It's your N80 Purge Valve. Loud ticking = needs to be replaced. Is your idle crappy?

I've never heard one that didn't click? Opens up for evap purposes so it doesn't run all the time.

Right, that's the normal operation of it but I've heard ones that were bad ticking very loudly and the car had a CEL for it as well.

    Car idles fine.

It clicks constantly though and it's quite loud. at first I thought my heads were getting starved of oil.

I've owned my fair share of b5 s4's and definitely first time hearing this noise.

I'll look into seeing if i can delete this and other necessary stuff since i'm gonna be doing a OCC setup anyways.

Or maybe just replace it.. hopefully it doesn't cost like $100.. lol

So much easier to search when you know what the part is called.

Looks like it's a somewhat common problem, with ticking.

I don't know if i have a evap cel code, because the light is perma-on due to piggies.

    Thanks for the help guys.
