The best price I found for a complete set of studs with conical and ball seat lug nuts was from Ringer Racing... Select their "man style" kit if you want two nuts and a stud (no homo):

If you take your lug nuts off frequently like I do as I swap wheels at the track - you do not want chrome lugs - I got a set from ringer and they lug nuts were soft as was the chrome and it simply started peeling off and they rusted up real bad. I've not used the 034 stuff so I can't comment - but both sets of chrome lugs i've had peeled and deformed after time. I opted for a set of hardened zinc coated lug nuts from http://t3technique.com. They were the only ones I could find that were 17mm heads and not 19mm heads as my wheels won't accept 19mm heads.

How long are the RavenMS studs? Are they conical or ball seat lug nuts?

Just randomly pulled these five out of my bag - these are the Ringer lugnuts after 1 year of use. I have quality tools and I use a breaker bar to loosen before removing with my impact gun.

I believe they come in 2" and 2.5" and they come in either ball or cone seat, your pick.

Yeah, I was a little unimpressed by the wall thickness of the 17MM conical lugs from Ringer when I got them, but I didn't have time to send them back and find something thicker or of a better material finish... If they last me a season, I'll be OK with that... The only issue is I can't fit my 17MM deep-well impact socket over them on my Kosei's; there just isn't enough clearance around the lug well. I have to use a non-impact 17MM deep well too loosen them a bit first, then use the portable impact gun to run them off completely.... It's still faster than running them off & on by hand, but still kind of a PITA. Aside from the finish, they would be perfect if they were another 1/2" longer so the socket didn't have to go into the lug well, so that's what I'm going to be looking for down the road...

Same here I just picked mine up about a month ago. I'm pretty sure a 5 year old could install these without issue and it makes wheel swaps 100 times easier. I've recommended these to all the Audi guys in my area.

I bought my studs from 034. They dont seem to be too bad, but my biggest complaint about them is that the allen key holes in the studs are off center, and there is still material in the bore, so I could only get my allen wrench in there about 1/4 inch.

When I installed them, I just used red loctite. I have put around 200 Miles on them, and no issues, or re-tightening.

How have the rest of you went about tightening them? Just install and leave them alone, or?

Ive got the ECS studs and haven't had any problems with them in 2 years. I actually just checked the site and can't seem to find the kit I purchased only individual studs though. You just have to make sure each one is in the right distance otherwise when you put the nuts on some studs will be sticking out further then others and it will drive you crazy..I'm not sure if other brands have slightly proud shoulders so it butts evenly, Mine will just keep threading through.

034 2.5" studs here. I love them, makes swapping wheels much easier, and allows rooms for spacers if needed. I would recommend red locktite as well, as I had a couple come loose after the first time I removed the nuts. Removed them all, applied red locktite, been good to go since then. I can't imagine them coming loose at any other time, other than removing the nuts. Good price, and fast shipping.

Achtuning has TONS of different options in stock. Considering how many wheels they sell they're pretty darn knowledgeable on what lengths and lug seat shape to recommend. They also carry the lug nuts with a 17MM head on them so your spare tire iron will still work. Talk to Todd over there. He knows his stuff.

Studs are super nice for frequent tire changes. They have their own issues, though. Torquing and locktite are important for longevity and safety when dealing with studs, including casual inspection during tirechange.

Got my studs off Ebay a few years ago. Same with the ball seat lugs. 2.5yrs later and its still holding up great and the lugs still have the zinc coating on them.

OK Doo think you should be doing the press in stud or? 034 have come back saying thay don't recommend doing the 14 to 12 conversion especially if you are racing/gymkhana, here in New Zealand there is endless opportunities in 114, but just bought 112 wheels so keen to get a group buy going here in the forums just need the advice to get it going.

FWIW- I agree with this----simply get a metal wheel hanger for under $20---offers the same advantage as having studs...MUCH cheaper and also keeps the ability to remove the front rotors without a caliper removal (once the pads are removed)....
PS- I rotate my tires every 4,000 miles and never found the need for studs over the use of a wheel hanger.

I don't think anyone buying these take off wheels more than I do, and 20inch Q7 wheels are just as easy to put on without anything. I've never used a wheel hanger, just get it on the hub ring, rotate, put lug bolt in to hold, then the rest in a cross pattern. Not having to deal with studs being installed or snapping, priceless.

when you're changing 2 wheels twice a night, on the side of a road in the dark, you find a greater appreciation for studs. You can 'oh you just hang it on the centering ring' all you want, in the real world the ground isn't flat. my wheel doesn't sit there, you've got to hold it while threading lugs, in the dark, while wedging the cell phone somewhere to give you some semblence of light.

Between studs, impact guns hardwired in to charge while driving, jacks with sockets matching lugs, headlamps, a backup jack for when that one collapses in the mud... Anything you can do to shave 30 seconds of holding 40 lbs in the air with one arm awkwardly, I give a thumbs up.

2 fullsize spares sit on top. backseat's got spare arms/rods and a backup jack. that cutout is for a scissor with a 19mm to match. breaker bar, tow strap, and a few other goodies. What might seem like overkill, you'll be singing a different tune when we've got the angle grinder hooked up to a converter and we're cutting out and threading in a new tie rod after pulling you out of a ditch :)

I'd say about half the crew rocks studs as well, others just haven't bothered. I'll tell you right now I'd rather help a guy with studs, it's a dream come true, especially if i've just spent the last 30 minutes lifting a mustang by hand over a tree stump.
