    Non fouler o2 spacer

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So here's the thing, I've searched, I've looked, I've asked. Someone on here put up their own little DIY about how to use the non foulers from Autozone or wherever as o2 spacers. I need to know the part number to use. Anyone?

If you don't find out, just go to Autozone, buy all ~4 that they have and return the three.

You will need 2 non-foulers with a test pipe.

If you are stacking them, the trick is not to drill out the second one at all (usually the first one needs drilled out just for O2 sensor fitment). If you get "no activity" codes or similar, then drill out the hole a bit and try it again. That hole size is how you adjust the sensor's exposure to the exhaust gases.

You can see the RAI spacer uses the same principle - it comes with different pieces so you can adjust the exposure.
    http://www.raimotorsport.com/RAI-J-P...p/11621vib.htm

As you can imagine, with these spacers (especially with a test pipe) you are more or less riding the line between "bank 1 sensor 2 - no activity" and "bank 1 catalyst - efficiency below threshold".

Yeah it's gonna be a pain in the dick. Would it be more efficient/effective to buy an actual o2 spacer from 034 or something?

And as for stacking, you mean the one that screws into the cat, don't drill at all, and the next one that the sensor is in needs to be drilled?

Yes. For my 98, I bought 2 of the small spacers from Auto Zone, drilled one completely out for the O2 sensor to thread into, left the other one untouched, and placed it in the downpipe. No cel for it.

It takes about 10 minutes, and costs 3 bucks our you can buy a spacer for about $30

I've seen spacers go between $10 and $38. Google them bad boys and take your pick.

I tried this and couldn't fit the O2 sensor in when drilled to 1/2 inch.
So, tried drilling to 5/8ths and drilled the threads off.

Then I procrastinated for two years, and now I need to pass emissions in the next two days...
So, I cleared my codes (P0420, P1114, and strangely a P1654), drove at least 10 miles for 15 to 20 minutes to get emissions tested, all the time hoping the CEL wouldn't come back on, only to get there and FAIL because it wasn't reporting ready yet.
What does it take to get it to report ready?

If you are referring to me, I have APR but without the deletes for cat efficiency.
I didn't start throwing the cat efficiency code until a year or two after the initial APR flash and six months after getting the 3" exhaust and HFC.
Now I'm tempted to go pay the $50 rip off reflashing fee to get the deletes...

Mine? No I told you to not delete the rear one (and you didn't, lol). Just deleting it from the ECU will cause a monitor to not clear which is no bueno in NY. I have a friend who will pass me with no cat as long as I have no CEL and good monitors.

^The sensor won't seat "completely" in the non-fouler. It's no big deal, though. Been riding like that for years till I just changed out my setup with rear o2 sensor delete on my tune. I always passed yearly inspection with no issue.

Yo dumb ass.. Just do it. Screw the first one to the cat, drill the second so the O2 sensor fits... Gut the cat and you are good to go you PUSSY! When you rolling to Ithaca?

It's not really a "mod", but rather reprogramming the ECU using a hex editor. Basically, you can make it so no CELs (or any CELs of your choice) never show up.

I'm running an eBay special that's almost identical to the 034 spacer but 1/3 the cost and way less of a pain in the ass than stacking non-foulers. Works great, no CEL on my AWM with a test pipe.

Ah, I should have known (I do software development for a living), I just didn't think we had that much direct access to mess with the ECU programming... guess I never looked into it.
I did the spark plug non-fouler mod again and this time it seems to be working, it is pretty easy if you have the right drill bit and don't drill too far (I did 5/8 instead of 1/2 but didn't drill through the lower threads at that size this time).
My problem now is my sensor seems to be wearing out and throwing P1114 regularly so I still can't pass emissions...
