LOVE the ride. A6 premium plus 3.0t , with cold weather, 19 inch sport and side assist. i thought thats all i would ever need, and just assumed that since there was a button for starting the car, i had the adavanced key. didnt figure it out until after i drove it home and the paperwork was all done and submitted. Doh.
I have a 2012 grand cherokee where this is a not a stand alone option. its just there.. argh.. kickin myself for not getting the prestige, though i never wanted to spend prestige money anyway. sigh........ im so used to this feature in the Jeep, guess ill get over it.

Yup, I have the A6 3.0T Prestige -- first vehicle I've ever had with the advanced key technology. Before I used it, I thought it was a gimmick type feature, but holy crap, I don't think I can ever own another vehicle again without that feature.

Congrats on your A6- Post pics of your new ride! :)

What makes the advanced key so great? The Keyless entry and start?

not to sound like a jerk, but My Acura's have had that since 2009... and plenty of other cars as well

I have had the advanced key for 7 years. It is a great feature and you do get use to just walking up to the car and going without reaching for your key. I also like being able to leave the car running and locked when I get my cup of coffee at Dunkin donuts on those cold winter mornings.

What is the process to do this? Start the car with keyless, get out, lock the door w/ the remote and unlock w/ remote? Or do you use the little button on the handle? I like the idea of this in the hot summer too :) Just don't want to screw it up w/ the car running!

I just push the button under the handle.

i was quite determined to get the best deal possible, and i did. But in the process completely ignored this feature. its just amazing how lazy we get. i have been trying to open my jeep with the key fob the past few days vs. the touch handle, just so i can get used to the old way. Otherwise i keep touching the door handle of the audi, waiting for it to open (and look like an idiot in the process). Lol.

Tell you what, maybe its better i dont have it. this is a test of mental toughness. I was looking around, almost every jap, american car has this feature std. in their mid to premium trims.. but VW, porsche, Audi, BMW is an option that has to be specifically added.
I dont get it, is this feature not popular in europe ? My wife (who i really got the car for), also does not seem to care much for this. Never even mentioned it and doesnt get it when i try to explain how cool this option is.
I wish they come up with a retrofit eventually.

i have the solution. I have disabled the comfort access / entry feature on my jeep grand cherokee! and drove and getting used to using the fob to unlock and lock again. After just a couple of hours of locking /unlocking the old way.. im already over my frustration for not having this feature. thats just it, dont get used to silly comfort options... at the end of the day, what should matter is the engine/the drive etc.. my neighbours nissan sentra also has advanced key. its not what makes the car.

    pics tomorrow.

Yeah. The trunk does indeed open all the way with the key fob. I'm happy about that and getting used to hitting the unlock on the fob again :)

You've got one killer 3.0T A6. At the end of the day, if your biggest problem is whether or not you have to use the key fob to open the locks, you aren't doing too bad You should one up everyone here and get one of those remote starters.

Aquaanox, where did you end up getting your tints done at? Trying to find a reputable place that wont soak all the audi equipment in the trunk. Any more pics of the tint job too?

Driven Dynamics in Rockville(known the owner personally more than 10 years). Its the 3m CF tint. Great stuff.. does not interfere with electronics and looks classy/OEM.
These guys are very good and great prices/customer service. will post more pics after the tint job soon.

Hmm, I tried this today and it didn't work. I started the car with the wireless key, closed the door and pushed the button under the handle (w/ the key in my pocket). It wouldn't lock. I also tried locking the door before closing it, and it wouldn't engage. Any other ideas? I'm driving an 08 A6.
