Anyone have B8 with LANE ASSIST ? I need coding/adaptation to retrofit.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I want retrofit lane assist to my B8. I have installed camera, windshield heater, steering wheel switch but no 4-spoke wheel only.
Can someone with lane assist installed could give me coding from module 5C- LAIN MANTAIN (I need value from this module)
Does anyone knows Lane Assist is dependent on ACC and suspension ?

Below is coding which I do it for now:

    5C- LAIN MANTAIN.--->Coding 07 ---> 0002001 --->Do It !
07 Control Head ---> Adaptation 10---> channel 01---> value + 16382---> Do It! Restart MMI
    16 Steering whell--->Coding 07 --->Long Coding Helper--->Byte 2 Bit 7 change 0 to 1
    17-Instuments --->Coding 07--->Long Coding Helper --->Byte 4 Bit 6 change 0 to 1

I know must do it calibration in dealer. How to make adaptation?

Hello 5F coding needs you have.
Additionally, what you write and the suspension (1BA, 1BE 1BV) and you have the ACC.
What is the Security Access Code?

Now I'm coding 0000001 and I have only one error

Does the lane assist, actually steer the car left and right "changes a lane to another" ?
Don't you need to retrofit a part that goes on the steering axle, that will steer the car using an electrical motor ?

I am going to retrofit this option in my A6 2012.

Lane assist on mine is lights on the wing mirrors that flash at you if it detects a car in the lane you are looking to move into, different flashing speeds depending on how close the car is.
There is also the option of it to give vibrations in the steering wheel to advise you there is a car there (not sure why as the lights are hard to miss and having a car that feels like you are driving over cats-eyes is annoying)

I certainly don't think there is a lane assist option that does the actual changing on the lanes for you ( there was the VW auto parallel park feature) but these are different

    Electronic Imaging
Black and white image captured by image capture sensor is then processed by image processing software. First, the picture looks for lane boundary lines. If they are recognized on both sides, is given the width and curvature of the lane.
As further parameters the software calculates the location of the car on the lane, so the distance the car from the left or right boundary line and the angle at which the car approaches the line. Image processing software analyzes the quality of lane departure warning.
Based on these calculated values and the known dimensions of the vehicle is determined to send a warning point. Depending on the setting point of sending a warning in the MMI system is used to calculate the various courses of action. You will be also asked to determine whether the function has been temporarily disabled due to the geometry of the lane, or not.
Assistant to the stability program is integrated into the lever direction. Press the button to enable or disable the system. The current state of the system is shown in the instrument cluster with warning light. If the pilot light is lit, it means that the system is turned on. If the light is not lit, the system is turned off.
Current state of incorporation shall be recorded and assigned to a car key. This means that when the ignition is switched off at the last inspection assistant was on the track, it will also be incorporated at the next turning on the ignition. The condition here is that the use must be the same as the ignition key at the last ride.
The possible states control lamp in the instrument cluster
Green light: the system is turned on and ready to work
Yellow light: Although the system is turned on, but due to current circumstances is not ready to work
The reasons for the yellow warning light in the instrument cluster may be as follows:
There is only one limiting line or no line
Boundary lines are not recognized (eg, due to snow, mud, moisture, reflections of light).
There are more than two lines of limiting its own lane (eg. White and yellow markings in areas where road works are carried out).
Speed is lower than the switching threshold of the system - about 65 km / h
Lane is narrower than about 2.5 m or wider than 5 m
Corner is too small (radius less than about 250 m).
Pilot light off: the system is off. To activate the system, press assistant track and control the direction lever.

I've had the parts to do this mod for almost 2 years but can't buy a windshield here :(

Found this code for a 2009 Avant if it helps 0001001

Not sure if it relates but here is coding from 2 Passat CC's 0030002

When I dig my camera out I'll see if I can hook it up on a canbus and read it's coding.

Encoding is OK with me that is 00000001 and the problem lies in the adaptation of 10. No active channels, only have 28-32

On my VCDS is no hint of code SECUTITY ACCESS.

What shows when you do an adaptation scan of the module? How many channels are locked and are any available?

I only have these four channels active in the adaptation of 28,29,30,31. Wartośi in these channels show zero. Tomorrow paste screna with VCDS

O one more thing I did not write, of course, do I need to calibrate the system dealer. Maybe here's the problem

With me in Poland is one for the instrument on which they must wait for months (this is kinda sick )

Hello Darecy. With the instruction of members of audi4ever i have calibrate ACC with self made calibration board, using output test. All ok with this mode.
But to start calibration for lane assist you need code for security access and start basic setting....do you have security access for module 5C? It would be wonderful!

Line assists uses the front radar, different speedos, and steering switches. You have to check also central electric module if it compatible with the ACC mode...

Ok, how can the radars see the lines in the road?, anyway, I do understand that it uses different modules, what I was trying to say is that I believe that if u have ACC, you have the needed modules.

    I did some further digging:
The control units necessary for the Audi active lane assist function:
    Camera control unit J852:
    · Registers the area in front of the vehicle and transfers the images to the image processing control unit J851
    · Searches for lane boundary lines in the images, determines their exact position and geometry, and transfers this infor- mation to the control unit J851
    Image processing control unit J851:
    · The function software of Audi active lane assist is integrated in this unit
    · Transmits the required system steering moment to the control unit for power steering J500 and, if required, requests a vibration alarm
    · Asks the control unit in dash panel insert J285 to display the current system state and, if required, to display messages and warnings
    · Transfers the current system state to the control unit for windscreen projection J898 and asks it, if required, to display warnings
    · Saves the settings for Audi active lane assist made via the MMI. The stored values are assigned to the vehicle key in use.
    Power steering control unit J500:
    · Activates the motor for electromechanical steering accor- ding to the specifications of the control unit J851 (generation of the required system steering moment and output of a vibration warning)
    · Reads in the sensor for steering moment G269 and forwards the steering moment to the control unit J851
Optional control units that can be used if fitted:
Adaptive cruise control unit J428 and control unit 2 for adaptive cruise control J850:
    • If the vehicle has the optional extra ACC, its measured variables are used for the two functions "Deliberate lane change without set turn indicator" and "System characteris- tics with obstacles detected on the neighbouring lane"
Park assist steering control unit J791:
    • If the vehicle has the optional extra front / rear parking aid, its measured variables are used for the function "System characteristics with obstacles detected on the neighbouring lane"
    Data bus diagnostic interface J533:
    • The interface of the various data bus systems
Steering column electronics control unit J527:
    • Reads in the button for switching the Audi active lane assist on and off and places the information on the CAN bus
Control unit in dash panel insert J285:
    • Displays the current system state of Audi active lane assist • Issues messages of Audi active lane assist
Control unit 1 for information electronics J794:
    • Settings for Audi active lane assist can be made via the control unit J794
Control unit for windscreen projection J898:
    • If the vehicle has a head-up display, the current system state and warnings from Audi active lane assist can be displayed there

Then I went through my VCDS scan and I have:
    J851
    J500
    J852
    J428
    J533
    J285
    J527
    J898
    J794

I do have all the needed modules (ex step the stalk)
Audi will not code it for me!

Need to figure out if the car actually needs software, or if it is a matter of enabling things.
I know it will request some adaption/calibration befor it will work, but assuming that the camera is calibrated, so I could go next, next on this.

I'm very interested in retrofitting Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Active Lane Assist on my Audi A5 (B8) or my soon-to-be purchased Audi S5 (B8.5). Has anyone successfully implemented both systems on their B8 or B8.5? Really sucks that we don't have this on our US cars, even though its been available on the Euro and Aussie versions for a few years!

ACC is not too bad if you already have another assistant system in the car, like highbeam assist, lane assists, etc. If not, then you also need to change the CAN gateway.

    Parts needed:
Front radar sensor, very expensive new (1500-2000EUR), 200-500EUR used on ebay.de
New bumper grille with cut-out for the radar & hardware to attach it, don't have the part numbers on hand ATM
Wiring loom, Kufatec sell a pre-fabricated loom, which I will use for my project
Cruise control stalk with ACC buttons
Compatible Steering Collumn Control Module (SCCM)

Really sucks that we don't have this on our US cars, even though its been available on the Euro and Aussie versions for a few years!
So just to follow up, has ANYONE successfully retrofitted Active Lane Assist on their B8 or B8.5 here in the US? Really curious to see if this has been accomplished on a US car.
