The 034Motorsport 3" High-Flow Catalytic Converter is a direct replacement for the factory cat, and bolts up to the stock turbo and factory exhaust. It also has dyno-proven horsepower and torque gains, and passes the tailpipe emissions tests in most states.

A place between here and there

If it's custom, just about anything is possible. I would not do that unless the rest of your exhaust is upgraded too, though. But just get the right size flange for the turbo exhaust outlet, have 3" tubing welded on with cat core incorporated. When the tubing reaches the underside of the carriage, add a 3" flex pipe to another flange (v-band preferred). On the other side of that flange, add your exhaust system of choice.

3" is also overkill for the stock turbo. 2.5" downpipe is just fine. My old exhaust system was a Labree HFC that was 3" on the turbo side, and 2.5" on the other side. Then it went to a 2.5" custom downpipe to 2.75" exhaust.

The biggest gains are from the removal of the stock cat, then the downpipe, not the exhaust itself, so you should be happy with our HFC and a larger downpipe.

Our cat fits the stock exhaust/downpipe perfectly. If you also want a larger downpipe, you should be able to get a Milltek or Techtonics Tuning one that will fit the stock exhaust, or have a local muffler shop make one.

Oh, you mean this one-piece downpipe?

That will terminate in a v-band connection underneath the car, so you'd need a muffler shop to make an adapter of some sort to the stock exhaust. his particular downpipe was meant for use with our B5 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro 3" Stainless Steel Exhaust System.

Hope that helps clear things up!

It is simple physics, the biggest restriction in any system will dictate the greatest flow through the rest of it. If the exhaust system behind the cat or downpipe has any restrictions then you will see very little to nothing by upgrading the rest. If the greatest restriction is at the downpipe then you will see some gains by upgrading otherwise you wont really see much until the rest of the system is upgraded. You should see something though because the stock cat is fairly restrictive and if you eliminate it you will see a gain for sure.

I don't know if it will fit or not, but if does I don't think it will do much for you. You may removed cat allow more exhaust flow but you have created another restriction which is the 3" into 2.25" or smaller tubing intersection. It's like trying to blow air into a really small straw, no matter how hard to try to blow out of that straw, the air will not exit any faster and your cheeks will always be puffed up like a blow-fish. It will probably be louder but performance-wise...maybe if your lucky but nothing very significant. I would suggest save your money and buy a full exhaust system.
