    B8 DIY Coilover?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi guys,
love this forum, always lots of great info and advice. In saying that, I need help with finding a DIY for B8 coilovers. I plan on having my mechanic put a set of H&R coils next week. He's got 20+ years experience working on cars (especially European ones), so I'm sure he can handle it. However, I think it would help if I showed a walk through to make the install smoother and easier. I remember seeing a really good write up on one a few weeks back (I think it was on a B8 A4), but I can't seem to find it now through the search. I found one for springs which was strait forward (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...spring+install), but the other one I'm referring to is much more extensive with more pics. Does anybody know where that thread is?

Drop the rear subframe one side at a time, and the springs literally fall out...

You can drop the rear sub frame to make it a bit easier, you don't need to though. I didn't do so because my impact gun wouldn't torque the bolt off haha.

The DIY on Vortex is pretty much how I installed my coilovers.

Hate to bring this back up. When you dropped the subframe did you take the bolts all the way out or leave a couple threads threaded in?

Never mind got it, but for your info nightrider just unscrew all four sub frame bolts until they almost fall out. Make sure you've got your sway bar bolts removed and then just pry out the springs while another pushes down on the rotor. Had the old and new springs in and out in 10min. It was way easier to tackle than my b7.

    ^^ That's good to know!

Wasn't planning to do it if it's the same as the b6/b7 a4. I have a b6 A4 and the coilover installation scared me. Just paid a shop $200 to do the install haha.

    Thanks for the info
