No power going to OBDII Port HELP PLEASE

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

I went to get my emissions test done today at a small shop near my house and they said when they tried to connect their OBDII cord it does not register because there is no power going to the port, I also tried my cord with no luck. Has anyone else had this issue before? I spoke with my dealer and he said that he was not sure what it was and couldn't give me any ideas of what it could be without looking at the car. Has anyone had a similar issue and fixed it or has any idea what needs to be done to fix it? I would like to know what I am in for when I go to the dealer I would hate to have to pay the $200 dollar diagnosing fee and them come back to me and say its gonna be 4 grand to fix it lol.

    Thanks any input is appreciated!

It's probably a fuse. Pop the cover on the left side of the dash, and on the inside of that cover there is a diagram and I beleive it may be fuse #12 if I remember correctly. Hope this helps.

Here's a pinout. Check to see that you have power and ground I guess.

Do you have an aftermarket radio? or an ABS problem? I've seen both things take down the diagnostic data bus.

After doing a bit of research i found out that I do have the stock audi RNS-E nav but it is not the same model number as the one that left the factory so the previous owner must have gotten a new stock nav for some reason. So What would be the Fix if the radio is the problem??

I'm running into a similar issue - failed emissions inspection in Illinois due to them being unable to communicate with the ECU. My little scanner plugs in okay and shows no codes, but don't know if that means anything or not. I checked fuses and everything seems okay there, and I don't have an aftermarket radio. I do have a driver's side airbag light on (had a rider in the back seat who I think hit the wires with their feet) - wonder if that could cause the communication issue?
