Tuning options for 2011 A3 Tdi DSG

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey everyone,

I've got an 11' A3 TDi DSG (U.S Spec) and wanted to know what tuning options I had thus far.

I've still got time as the car is still under warranty but I noticed Revo seems to be the only one really offering parts.
Does anyone offer injectors for more fuel/power? Revo seems to bump it from 140/236 to 160/285. Good torque but less gains then I expected.
    Downpipe?
Has anyone enabled launch control to work on U.S cars?
Has anyone successfully upgraded the turbo on these new diesels?

I'm going to start modding eventually but want to wait for more products to be tested/released. I heard a rumor that Revo was working on a stage 2, and possibly launch control enabling on the U.S cars, this would be something i'd be very interested in.

    Onurleft,

There are not a whole lot of options or shops in the US. Revo is very popular in Europe and can help you get tuned. I am going to do the computer tuning and a few other things up their sleeves.

Everything else, suspension, brakes & body are the same as all the other A3's and that includes the launch control.

    Best of luck to you

I agree there aren't many options right now, however the list is growing. Malone Tuning is well respected, (they have a bigger presence over at Vortex Diesel Forums) , and are the front-runners for my money if I were to buy a tune today.

APR is supposedly finalizing their TDI CR stage 1 tune, as they were looking for donor cars (see thread). I emailed GIAC but never heard back. So in the next couple years I expect a few options to be on the table as far as chip tuning.

As Barvel said, any upgrades for the FWD A3 Gasser should apply for the TDI (like suspension/brake upgrades), save for engine mods of course

The carbonio intake is available and looks cool in the engine bay; i haven't looked closely at its performance effect if any.

I have the Revo tune and can attest to a nice butt-dyno proven increase. Hard to say which tune is really the best out there so I would go for the one where you can get it installed the easiest since you need to pull out your ECU. I suspect that if you go with some of the major names mentioned already, the differences will be minor or negligible to your butt. I also have an exhaust on mine which is basically a straight tube after the DPF. There is a small but noticeable increase in sound but nothing like a gasser would provide. Probably also no performance increase either beyond weight savings as the DPF is really the constriction point.

Thanks for the input let's keep it coming as shops develop more stuff.

What i'd like to do is get the car tuned, but only after there is a downpipe option. The exhaust seems to be the major restriction point on these U.S cars..

Does anyone know the specifics on why the Euro TDi makes 170/260 ft/lbs from the factory??? I know Euro spec car's almost always make more power, but I was curious to why in the A3 Tdi's case

that's a pretty good bump throughout the entire rev range. I thought the 140hp TDI put down closer to 133hp/225lb-ft to the wheel though (saw it on a malone tune over on golfmk6.com) ... I know every engine can be different, but i didn't think that much 122/205 = 11hp & 20lb-ft difference!

    Wow Great Bump.

Want to see long term results of the Flash. Since most of us are daily drivers.
